Description

Have any refill spools sitting around? This clock uses the cardboard spool-core as body and requires minimal filament for a quick print. You can optionally add brass and steel dowels for an Art Deco effect.

Printed Parts

  1. Clock Face options
    1. With depth (prints with visible layer lines).
    2. With flat elements (fewer layer lines will be visible)
  2. Base
  3. Minute Hand
  4. Hour Hand

Assembly Instructions

  1. Press the brass and stainless steel pins into the clock face. It can help to start the pins and then press them against a surface (like a table) to press them in since they are a tight fit. You can press them all the way in or leave them overhanging the edge slightly (as shown in the photos)
  2. Insert the back of the clock kit through the face and attach with the brass nut.
  3. First place the hour hand onto the shaft of the clock kit (it'll be a tight fit) and then follow with the minute hand.
  4. Place the clock face over the cardboard spool - glue should not be needed but is optional.
  5. Slide the base onto the spool (around the 6:00 location)

Printing Tips

  • Two face options are included - one with flat edges and one with a gradient. The gradient can look good with metalic filaments but the flat version is a cleaner print.
  • The fit of the base and face on the cardboard spool may be a little loose but this shouldn't cause any issues - gravity should hold it together without glue.

Updates

  • Jan 1, 2025: Corrected the face with depth to be included on a separate plate
