Description

This seagull was painted using the Bambu Studio paint tools. The materials I chose for the print were generic wood PLA for the stumps and Bambu Matte PLA for the others. Uploaded is a 141mm Z-height and 125mm is the smallest Z-height color print I've made without deterioration on the thing wings. Using a single color, prints can be made smaller (see the photo of the two side by side). The physical model is a 3D scan using a Peel3 and scaled smaller for printing on my Bambu X1-Carbon.

Excellent model/scan, thanks! It printed perfectly. I used Strong tree support, dropped the purge tower and ran in Sport mode. I've been using a .5 overall factor on the purging and I've yet to see any bleed, this cuts the poop down a little.

hard to tell if you're drawing attention to the waste as a point of pride or a point of fact/awareness.

You know I had to put the poo in the pics, or it wouldn't have been as fun. 🤣🤣 But the best part of this whole project is knowing that 3D printing has come a long way over the years, and multicolor prints are much easier to make now.

So much waste! I wish we could find a solution for this

This is the solution; make it part of the model. 😂

“It’s a design choice” 😂

you can make other models az your purge blocks and make it 5x bigger than the one youre printing and tada less purge waste LOL

I really appreciate you showing all the poops, it’s really wasteful sadly

It was a onetime thing for me, and I just wanted to know if it could be done. It is more efficient to make several on a build sheet and I was able to get away with placing 3 on the sheet. Thanks for the like and I hope you get a chance to print it one day. I'll try to make and upload a few others in the coming new year.

Great model which I came across through a 'real sam prentice' YouTube video. - will have a go at printing it myself - but what I think I will do before trying it is: a) Change the flush volumes to 'Re-calculate' and multiplier to 0.5 as per the recent 'teaching tech' YouTube video.. That would save about half of the flush waste. b) Then to save most of the rest I would add in some 'flush-into' objects. With enough fairly tall objects I think I could get the flush down to only about 6g. However this would increase the print time by about 8 hrs, plus also only be appropriate if the tall objects were actually useful. Have documented my workings here if you are interested https://forum.bambulab.com/t/making-better-use-of-flush-into-object-in-bambu-studio/29422/30?u=ukdavewood
