The AMS version of this profile is poorly-optimized. I have left it here for those who may prefer the original design - but, for everyone else, I recommend the newer 7-Unit Gridfinity Ruler MKII or Gridfinity Ruler MKII Left-To-Right versions.

THE GRIDFINITY RULER [7 Unit Length]
Stop wasting time converting units - because life is short, and the meaning is 42!

Since getting into 3D printing, it has become increasingly important for me to measure everything in the known universe in 42mm increments. I wanted an quick and easy way to do this, without having to resort to pesky 3rd grade arithmetic-- a skill I have lost almost entirely. As such, I've sacrificed most of one weekend of my life to bring you (and me) a handy and kinda cute ruler, with:

Has 42mm X/Y axis units on one side, & 7mm Z axis units on the other
Prints in a single colour because I have harnessed the magic of light and shadow for the numbering
- 2-Colour version now available!
Lettering is easy-to-read printed from a 0.4mm nozzle
Also available in 5 unit length for your A1 mini!
For a super family heirloom quality version, print at 100% infill on a smooth PEI plate with 0.2mm nozzle. Tasty.

Use it for finding out if the models you see online will fit in your various nooks and crannies! Use it as a design aid while making bins for your most strange and exotic wrenches! Print a whole bouquet of coloured rulers for your love! Stick one in with your buddy's normal rulers and watch their face contort as they try to make heads and tails of this mysterious new scale! The sky is the limit - and the limit, of course, is multiple of 42.

used Bambulab Basic PLA. Basic orange wont cover up the black layer since its not fat enough :/

Sorry to see the black showed through for you! Really appreciate the feedback though! Found the issue -- I had checked 'flush to infill' in an effort to lower filament waste, but I see that doesn't work out too well with the lighter colours. I've updated all the colour models to correct this.

Its not to do with flushing to infill - if you look at the sliced model and move through the layers you can see the painted marks do all sorts of weird things under the model - huge areas of black under the lettering etc. It is just because this model is not optimised for multicolour Works well enough regardless

Thanks for the insight -- I still don't have an AMS, so I've kind of been flying blind in that sense, but I'm going to be picking one up before this Black Friday sale ends & I'll release a properly optimized version as soon as I can!

Such a simple yet brilliantly effective idea. Printed perfectly with the provided profile. Even using the single color profile, everything is clearly marked. I checked measurements with calipers and it was spot on with Bambu PLA basic

worked well! with multicolor AMS would opt for having the color fill all the way to make it more visible, but will works well enough!
