Description

Updated version now available. No AMS needed and includes a holder!
This is a set of four melted snowmen coasters for no other reason than the idea made me laugh and I had to make them.
- Print time: ~1 hour for one, ~2hr 50m for all four
- Pre-painted and AMS ready
- No snowmen were actually harmed

Important Printing Information
- Orientation: These coasters are designed to be printed face-down on a textured plate. Both orientations are included in the .3mf file so you can choose the one that fits your needs.
- Flush (Purge) Values: I've optimized the flush values for my own colours; you may need to recalculate depending on your colour choices
- Keep it clean: Please make sure your plate is properly clean so details have the best chance to stay put and not get dragged around
- Slow down first layer: Similarly, I recommend a first layer speed of 15 mm/s. It can add anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes to print time but I find it's a worthwhile trade off as the success rate for a clean print increases.
Print Settings
The .3mf files include my recommended print settings. A lot of these changes from default are due to gap filling purposes to produce a cleaner looking design.
Here they are in detail with an explanation of why I chose them.
- Nozzle size: 0.4 mm
- Plate type: Textured PEI (the texture looks nice and allows the filament to squish to fill gaps)
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Elephant Foot Compensation: 0
- First layer flow ratio: 1.1 (I found this gave a better first layer squish and helped fill in gaps)
- Sparse Infill: 15% Gyroid
- First layer speed: 15 mm/s (slow to prevent small details from coming loose from the plate)
- Outer wall speed: 30 mm/s (there is a fillet around the edge that will look better with a slow outer wall speed)
- Brim: none

About the model
Sometimes I like to take a break from complicated projects and do something silly. This is what resulted during my last break. It's the utter horror and angst of these snowmen at being used as coasters that appealed to my sense of humour.
Filament used in display models:
Display models were printed in PLA with the above settings as follows:
- Silk White: Hello 3d
- Black: Bambu Basic
- Orange: Hatchbox
- Matte Earth Brown: Polyterra
