Description

Dry up to 7 spool desiccant canisters at once in a filament dryer!

  • Print in ASA, ABS or PETG to prevent the part sagging upon heating.
  • You will need two pieces of the same. There are finding features that align the two pieces, and one central desiccant holder will lock them together.
  • The external dimensions of this is based on a Bambu reusable spool and will fit in the AMS as well as all filament dryers (that I know of).
  • If you are buying indicating silica gel beads, the orange beads are the non-toxic ones and the blue ones are the toxic ones.
  • Leave an air gap in your filament dryer to let the moist air out when drying.

Please feel free to upload print profiles for any of my uploads - for various printers, materials, etc.

The desiccant PACKET holder I use in the pictures is here. This has a fine thread so they clamp the Bambu spools quite tightly - making “spool shims" unnecessary when refilling your spools.

The desiccant loose bead holder I use is here. Note that this remix has holes on the sides of the tube (among other changes) to make drying easier when they are outside of the filament spools - this is the primary reason I made the remix - to make drying easier.

If you want a loose bead holder specifically for Bambu spools, check out this one:

That is all, happy printing!

The flanges on the loose silica bead containers don’t fit when next to each other. I would recommend the other containers. Other than that it’s a great model.

haha that annoys me too. That was designed before the drying wheel existed (many months ago), I’m designing a new one with many improvements including fitting on the wheel!

And might I suggest an open-ended version where you just place the packets in there? I doubt they'd fall out. I was going to do a remix but too busy right now!

Prints very well on ABS!

Good to hear! I made sure that there are no straight lines so the new layers can't apply much tension, that way ABS/ASA won't warp easily :)

Switched to PETG and kept the same profile as is. Prints ok and final product is great, but the triangle infill and speeds seem to cause some grinding on the nozzle and affect the exterior quality (when printing at those speeds in PETG). The infill is set to triangle which I think suffers the same issues as grid. The design is superb though, going to be getting a lot of use out of this, thank you!

Printed perfectly in Petg. unfortunately with my eibos rotating filament dryer I ran it for a day and didn't barely dry the dessicant in the holders. switched to trays and my old dehydrator and got it done in a few hours.

Printed with no issues on my X1 Carbon and tolerances were perfect. Was able to use up some purple Overture PETG I purchased for a single model.
