Description

Looks impossible? Think again!

Instantly elevate your bland office desk and get rid of your boring laptop risers and stands!

Watch your envious colleagues' jaws drop as they struggle to process a laptop floating in mid air!

Design has been tested with a 13" HP Elitebook and a 16" Macbook Pro. Most laptops should fit provided that the bottom half is not too thick. Works great with iPads and other tablets too, especially for looking at recipes in the kitchen!

This is an improved version of the original design with the following goals:

  • Better stability - base of the model has been reworked to be much more stable with no load / loads of different sizes (phones, tablets, laptops, etc)
  • Better grip - design now includes a printable TPU foot that fits in a cutout on the base (version with no foot is also available for folks that do not have TPU / do not wish to use it). No more sliding around the desk!
  • Design rework - many of the sharp angles have been replaced with sweeping curves. While design is subjective, i think this makes for a much more elegant look overall
  • Printable in one piece with no supports
  • Fits on A1 Mini! - i dont have one to test on, but the model fits comfortably in the build area

Printing

Update 7 May 2024 - added faster print profiles as there seems to be some demand for them. would still recommend going for the original high quality profiles for a more seamless look, especially with matte / wood filaments.

The pictured model was printed with wood PLA, but any material should work. Use a heat resistant material if using in a hot environment.

  • 4 walls
  • 30% gyroid infill
  • No supports required

I have found that the above is sufficent to produce a nice strong print. Increase the number of walls / infill at your discretion if you wish to add even more strength.

Do not change the print orientation! Model must be printed side down to maximize strength at stress points.

Assembly

Simply attach the rubber foot to the base of the model with superglue.

Happy printing! Share your makes!

PLA 10% 5 стенок. 124 скорость, шість часов. смотрится шикарно. профіль PETG Basic, температура 70 на 255. PEI пластина, не відпала при друці.

looking good! would personally have made the text flush with the surface of the stand and painted the letters instead for a cleaner look. that would result in many more color changes though.

New to printing how do I fix this. I use PETG basic for this print. Did I have to modify the settings

hi there. it looks like you’re having some issues with bed adhesion, which led to warping and possibly a layer shift. I would start by giving the textured plate a good scrub with dish soap. also ensure that you’re overriding the Pla setting with your own settings for petg. 75 bed temp and 255 nozzle temp is a good place to start. if all else fails, add a brim in the slicer.

Looks and works great! I increased layer size and decreased infill for a faster print. Thanks!

I’m committed to printing these stands forever. It’s a lengthy print, but it’s very practical for my job. I don’t print a ton, but this model is one of my favorites because of how much I can use it at work with limited counter space. I fine-tuned my X1 Carbon 3D printer as I only print in PETG. Lowered cooling fans to avoid warping. The print came out excellent, so I’ve printed it twice. It’s handy for the many laptops I service.
