Description

This is a “Tetris” like interlockable spool holder that requires no screws but a little bit of fiddeling. It uses the clap machanism of the original spool holder to clamp itself. It has enough clearance for the printhead to move past it and also to the outer left/right top position.

 

While the spool holder is shown on the right side, it can be also placed at the left side.

 

Important:

Print it so that the contact area between the two elements does not need supports, otherwise you ll have to do sanding (Take a look at the buildplate i attached).

 

Improvements:

I wanted a small footprint that is why the original spool holder has to be placed between the two elements while assembling. One could make the top gap bigger, so that the original spool holder could be clamped after the two elements are locked together, but this would need more material & the original spool holder would be placed higher…

 

Why i made it:

I made this spool holder for my A1 because i have a slope behind the printer and i could not place the printer near the slope because of how the original spool holder is oriented.

Great model! Almost exactly what I was looking for, but I needed to keep the filament spool within the footprint of the printer so I modified it a bit in tinkercad, basically splitting the model and adding a 50mm spacer to make it taller for clearance. Printed in aceaddity space gray PETG.

I sincerely didn't think I'd find this exact adapter/mount on here since this is such an obscure need but this ended up being perfect and surprisingly rigid! I printed with PETG even though it's more materially elastic it's rock solid. Did take note of the tricky installation but after it was done I couldn't be happier

Simply amazing, I looked for something simple as aesthetic, I hope you can work on some spool holders for the ams lite, I fear some day they will fall from the top mount and wreck something.
