⚠️Before you print this - does my AMS need version 4.1 or 4.0?

If your AMS was delivered to you by Bambu Lab before October 2023, then just print version 4.0.

If your AMS was delivered to you by Bambu Lab after October 2023, then I would simply measure the AMS Feeder Funel - see the pictures below.

⚠️If the funnel diameter is about 14.3mm, then you should print version 4.0, if it is about 14.5mm, then print version 4.1👌

If the funnel diameter is about 14.3mm - then you should print version 4.0
If the funnel diameter is about 14.5mm then print version 4.1

Why this Version 4.1?

I get a lot of feedback for my AMS Protectors, which I am very grateful for! 🙏😍

I received many requests for improvement, which I have now implemented in this version:

  • They are designed to print them on the back - no more bed adhesion problems! 😃
  • They are shorter as v.3.0, have a convinient push-button with ergonomic inclination of the push button and "push"-point - really no more sore fingers! 😍
  • Much easier installation during better tolerances and better strong clamping on the feeder-funnel! 👌

Bambu Lab X1 AMS Feeder Button Cover/Protector - what is that good for?

I have read some reports that the abrasive filaments "grind" the feeders from AMS (which are from soft plastic too) very quickly! And this problem may affect the loading and unloading filaments !

I found an interesting feeder cap at Printables (thank you, Maverick Ng, for sharing your model!) and reconstructed it so that the cap sits very stable on the feeder and can still be easily pulled on and removed. Look at Installation-Video on my Instagram Channel - its very easy! :-)

 

For version 4.1 I achieved the best results with the PTFE length of 18mm. I used a replacement PTFE tube that came with my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.

 

Please read the print instructions carefully! They are important so that the small parts can be printed correctly and then sit and hold well on the feeder!

Print / Install Instructions:

  • place them with the logo on the build plate
  • first layer line width: 0,39 (0.4 mm Nozzle)
  • first layer speed: 10ms per second (for perfect look of the button-surface)
  • 2 perimeter, 4 top/bottom layer, 20% infill
  • PLA/PETG - are top for that
  • print layer height: 0.12mm and WALL generator: Classic (in this case please no Arachne) !!!
  • It is helpful to swith your Bambulab Printer from “Standard” Speed to “Quiet” - better quality and fit!

Printed in PETG at recommended settings, however this kept happening. I’ve added a few drops of superglue now in the hope of the tubes not getting pushed out anymore.

Hi! 🖐️😃 I’ve designed them for BambuLab PTFE… it’s sturdy and diameter is exactly 4mm… I have here another brands and they are thinner and flexible… But ok, i think with a drop of superglue it will hold for sure! Thank you for the great info and make! Happy printing! 🙏😍👍

I used the original Bambu replacement tubes that came with my AMS and cut them to length. anyhow, superglue seems to do the job 👌🏼

ah one more thing: is it normal for the caps to have some play? I can wiggle them left to right a little.

printed nice, i‘ve removed the smiley face since i didnn‘t like the look and closed the round opening 2layers thick, tested original and modified, no difference in quality. finished my first print and can see no problem. Thanks for the efforts, i will send a boost as soon, as i get tokens. 👍

I‘ve done my first 20h continous print now with the funnel guides. Unfortunately they came off, seems like the filament is pulling them sideway during unwinding.

Hi! 🖐️😃 If I use them without Duster, then I have best results with shorter PTFE (18mm long) - flexible enough and minimal friction. Maybe you should try shorter PTFE too? Printed well. Had a bit of trouble fitting the first one but the video helped, others went smoothly as I got the hang of it. Haven't tested in action yet. If I can give one point of feedback it would be to remove the logo from the single colour print, it's still somewhat visible in my print where the colour transition should be.
