Description

Welcome to my first entry into product design—a functional, not yet perfected, travel case for the ROG ALLY. As a beginner hobbyist, I embarked on this project to get into the world of 3D printing design, hoping to offer a base for others to build upon or to provide a functional case for those tolerant of its current shortcomings.

Features and Design Choices:

  • Functional Cutouts: The case includes openings for fans, the charging port, and easy removal of the ROG ALLY. While crafted to fit, the size and position of these cutouts may benefit from your tweaks or feedback.
  • Padding Space: Designed to incorporate 3/32" padding or foam, intending to protect the device by preventing direct contact with the case—ideal for those looking to add an extra layer of cushioning.
  • Future Enhancements: This version doesn’t feature a hinge or lock mechanism but is prepared for their future addition with designated holes for M3 screws.

Use and Modifications:

  • Assembly Considerations: Some minor adjustments around the hinge and latch areas might be needed to ensure a better fit. I has to trim the lip that keeps the two parts from slipping from each other laterally around the hinge and latch area as they will not fit otherwise. With this modification, a simple friction fit of the two case parts has been sufficient for everyday carry in my backpack.
