Description

A fully functional, slim and stackable cycloidal drive designed by me (BLJ ENGINEERING, @protoboard)

Features

  • Prints without support.
  • Easy to assemble, just align the index marks as you go.
Index marks
  • Reduction ratio 15:1
  • Can be hand-driven with the included input knob. TIP: Use the knob as an adapter to a standard 1/4in (6,35mm) hex bit.
  • Stackable: A reduction ratio of 225:1 is achieved with two drives.
  • Fits faceplate/ bolt holes on standard NEMA 23 motors.
  • <1h print time in most cases.

Tested in PLA and ABS. Any config should work. Tolerances are somewhat loose. Matte filament: After the first few turns, just rinse the parts in water to flush out the dust, if any. A dab of Vaseline or coking oil works great.

Please use with caution around small kids - small parts!

Ah, I’m not familiar with that filament, especially since it’s not from Bambu. The lifting/adhesion issue could stem from various factors, and it’s unclear to me if a PLA profile is suitable—a dedicated PETG profile is probably better suited.

Bambu PLA black version. Printed well, easy assembly, after a few drops of leftover Bambu grease here and there works like a charm. please keep adding more of such modular designs, also adapters for pulleys or rods of 2, 3 and 5mm would be great to see.

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad to hear it printed well and assembled easily for you. Using Bambu Lab grease was a great tip! I'll keep adding more modular designs when time allows, and I'll see if I can add more models during my vacation. Thanks for the suggestion about adapters for pulleys or rods. BTW, the pictures aren't loading for me. Could you upload them again? I'd love to see them!

Great results, by far the tiniest cycloidal drive.

Excellent — precisely what I was looking for to achieve precise rotation of a large mass with "high" torque I've just started the print with PLA CF I'm really excited Thanks in advance

Printed well with no issues. The part geometry has a lot of slack built in, and is very forgiving in general, so this should be an easy one to print.

Works very well in PETG. Great design, very slick and well thought-out, and making them modular is a very nice touch.
