Description

Since I've noticed many rugged cases are being printed on the Bambu Lab printers, I challenged myself to create a Rugged Case that doesn't require any hardware like screws! It's been 14 years since I last designed an advanced part for school, but I turned to OpenSCAD to do the job for me, and it presented me with a lot of challenges! Let's say that I was very rusty…. but hey… it does the job and if I find time I'll update it.

I've created SVG files of the Bambu Lab logo and font, and convertedt these to stl files, so you can print them in different colors and personalize your box!

Currently, I've had enough time to create this rugged case, and I hope my P1S will be shipped next week so I can also print my case and update the images!

I've been waiting to see how Bambu Lab would grow this year, and I'm very confident they will remain in the 3D printing world for a long time. Due to this I made the decision to transition from three printers to one printer, the Bambu Lab P1P.

Features:

  • Hardware-Free: Integrated hinges and an optional snap-fit lid – no screws needed, you'll only need some glue for the logo!
  • Highly Customizable: Tweak length, width, height, shell/rib thickness, even corner roundness.

The Power of AI:
ChatGPT and Gemini Advanced were amazing collaborators, helping me troubleshoot and refine the design for its hardware-free functionality, I can't wait to see what tools like this will bring in the near future regarding 3D modeling. Bambu Lab itself is also working on AI with the MakerLab AI Scanner!

How to Print:

  • Walls: 3
  • Top & Bottom Layers: 3
  • Infill: 13% (or your preference)

Disclaimer:
This 3D printed case is designed for personal use. I am not liable for any damages that may occur to your printer while using this case. I do also know that my OpenSCAD file is not perfect but with a famly to run I lack more time to spend on this little project!

Good little box print - I uploaded my 3MF - Feedback as requested - I reduced layer height to .14 to smooth out the rounded top of rear hinge. I used PETG - so changed the infill pattern to Gyroid. The only thing I would change are the notches on the lid to fit in the rear hinge. They are too loose and cause the lid to come off easily when opened. I'd reduce the 'depth' of the lid notch, mabey by half, so the bumps on the base snap in, if that makes sense. (Circled in pic) Otherwise, nice print, thanks for posting.
