Description

Try my alternative V2 labeling system (easier printing + installation):

Filament Label System for Bambu Reusable Spool V2

Quick Swap Filament Labelling System for the Bambu Reusable Spool

Do you rewind filament onto the Bambu reusable spools and forget what filament is on the spool?
Dislike the adhesive labels?

This accessory features one piece that snaps onto the spool, and a sliding/interlocking label that displays the filament type and/or filament brand.

I’ve included common filament types and brands, as well as blank label step files if you would like to customize your own labels.

Features

  • Snaps onto the spool. No permanent changes or damage.
  • Label any filament type and/or brand.
  • Multi-color and Single-color files are included - AMS NOT REQUIRED!
  • Works inside of the AMS!
  • Labels securely slide into place.
  • A blank label is included so you can add your own text in the slicer or CAD program.
  • No supports needed. Print in the default orientation.
  • Includes notches on the Base Plate for easier removal with a flat tool.

Printing

  • Provided print profiles are recommended.
  • Print at 0.20mm layer height with 0.4mm nozzle.
  • Do not use supports.
  • You will need at least one "Base Plate".
    • You can drag the label “assemblies” that you want to print into the plate containing the Base Plate and delete/not print the others.
  • I recommend printing one (1) label first. If the fit is too tight, scale up the X,Y, and Z dimension by 0.5%.
    • Do not scale up the Base Plate.
  • Each file has a plate for multi-color printing and a plate for single-color printing.

Attaching to Spool

  1. Snap the “Base Plate” onto the top-center (below the “Bambu Lab” logo) or bottom-center of the filament spool.
  2. Slide your label onto the Base Plate in the direction of the arrow.

Creating a Custom Label

  • Import the “BLANK_label.stp” file into the slicer or your CAD software.
  • In Bambu Studio, use the Text Shape tool to add text of your choice to the bottom layer, and set the Embedded depth to 0.40mm.
    • If printing a single-color, right-click on the text shape in the object browser and change the type to “Negative Part”.
  • Every CAD software will be different, but the same idea applies. Subtract 0.4mm of your text from the bottom layer.
    • If multi-color printing, you will need to re-create your text as a separate body inside of the subtracted area and export the full component as a 3mf.

Love these but hope they do not get stuck in the AMS. They are a little thick and there is not much room in the slots. Had a problem getting a roll stuck in the AMS but that was because an inside filament clip. First I removed this tag and the roll kept getting stuck, after removing the inside clip it had no problems anymore. But I would place the tag as close to the middle as you can so it has enough clearance.

Good tip. I haven’t had any issues with mine yet, but maybe an older revision of the AMS has less space? When I have some time, maybe I can try seeing if there's any way I can make it thinner just in case. I don't know how much I will be able to change.

I did not have any problem yet ether 😅 but just to be safe I placed them as far to the middle I can. I would not bother to make them thinner, there is enough clearance. I am only cautious because rolls can move a bit left to right, and if it’s more to the middle of the roll it has more clearance 😁and my luck it wil get stuck on something stupid 😂😅
