Description

Fully working trip wire landmine / boobytrap,
The mine works with trip wires which releases a hammer that detonates a snap cap from a cap gun.
only requires 3 small parts, a rubber band and come caps.

It has two modes of operation, mounting the trigger clip at the bottom of the pin means it will go off if you pull the trip wire, mounting it at the top means it will go off if you pull, release or cut the tripwire
This can be strung across a doorway attached to objects or wired between trees
It comes with optional components to help you mount it in position.

Printing
standard print settings will do, orientate as provided in the files.
Note that the main body has a built in support in the bottom, this will easily break off by hand.

How to assemble (colours reference photos)
Before assembly you need to superglue a toothpick into the blue pin, the hole in the pin should you allow you to push it in and with difficulty pull it out, make sure it fits and then pull it out and superglue it into the pin, this renforces the thin section of the pin which is under allot of force.

Then Insert the pink hammer goes into the brown body as shown, it goes it through the open side, slide the hammer end in first, the sides of the opening flex out enough for you to feed it in sideways like this, Before the hammer is fully inside the body slide in the Blue pin through the hole on the end, the ball end needs to be lined up with the socket for it in the pink hammer, once lined up push them together as you push the hammer the rest of the way into the body.
once inside the hammer will be trapped inside but still slide up and down within the body.

To install the elastic you need to find an elastic band who's maximum stretch is about the same length as the main body, you may need to experement to find the right length and thickness, it needs to be fairly powerful but over stretching the elastic doesn't seem to help.
ive used thin slingshot elastic in mine but i have tested it with rubber bands, i just don't have any of apropreate sizes.
To attach the elastic slide the pink hammer down far enough to see the circle in the middle of it. one end of the elastic band hooks around this.
To attach the other end use a short loop of string through your rubber band loop, and feed that through the bottom of the body past where the caps go, this allows you to pull the rubber band through that gap. It goes down the side of where the caps go and then hooks onto the back of it, you can then pull the string out.

you will also need to print two of the clips.

Optional parts
There are two versions of the main body, with or without eyelets that are designed to make it easier to tie it to a tree or fence etc.
There is also a base attachement (orange) this slots into the bottom of the body, and is held in with a toothpick as a retaining pin, it has cutouts that allow you to use various things to steak it to the ground, 2x 3mm bbq skewers, 2x3x3.8 skewers or 6mm dowl but your probably just better off printing the ground spike (purple) and using that. what ever you use it will need gluing into the base attachment.

There is also a flat base attachment (green) this is easier for indoors, you can put somthing heavy on it to hold it in place, or use double sided tape to stick it anywhere.

How to use
Mount the body somwhere where it won't be pulled over by the tension of the tripwire.
Place a cap on the nipple inside of the tube. The hammer should want to pull down to contact the snap cap . make sure the hammer slides freely, you may want to work it back and forth to ease it up or add a tiny bit of silicone oil but this shouldn't be needed.
Using your finger push the hammer back as far as it will go, this will make the pin poke out of the hole, put one of the clips into the lower positoin and it will hold the pin up.
when the clip is pulled out of the way the hammer drops and fires the cap.

For the tamper proof mode, set it up as above but you have the tripwire on a second clip, attach it to the top posion and tie the trip wire so that it is under tension.
how pull the pin up so that the thin secion at the bottom is exposed, this will allow the pin to tip over, the corner of the pin then hooks into the corner of the hole, and the tension of the top clip should hold it in that position. now remove the bottom clip which is your saftey.
This way if the top clip is pulled out, cut or the tension released the pin will straiten itself and then fall straight down as before.
