I simply got tired of not being able to clean lead screws properly on my 3D printers without taking them apart for thorough cleaning.
I have designed this simple device that uses four 6x3 magnets and isopropyl alcohol-soaked kitchen sponge to thoroughly clean lead screws without ever having to take them apart. This cleaner will hug lead screw and will move on the lead screw by simply moving axis.
Print 2 copies of the item, both with at least 3 perimeters and 0.2mm layer height.
Glue in the 6x3 magnets in holes.
Cut appropriately sized non-abrasive soft sponge and tuck it inside both slots.
Soak sponge with Isopropyl Alcohol and connect both pieces around lead screw. Move your axis with 3D printer control panel and keep holding onto the cleaner making sure it doesn't rotate with lead screw.
