Description

Long time ago i have seen a tool similar, and i did sketch this on my handbook, today i did decide to transform the design in real life tool.

The intention of this tool, is not to need extra hands to help us solder.
- Allows some adjustment in the distance between the two ends.
- Tension wheels that grip the wire.
- Magnets in the base that allow you to hold the tool in place.

This was one day design and print, few twinks may be need, but works.

This design will allow you to change the arms and create others for different functions.

Be free to improve the idea, i will attach the step files.

Here you can find find a video, where you can see the assembly.

Instructions:

Did print all parts with PLA at 0.2 except the Leadscrew, that i did print at 0.1

Parts that need Supports:

  • LeadScrew
  • LeadScrew Table

Material:

  • 3x M3 Square Nuts
  • 4x M3 washers ( 8.9mmx0.84mm)
  • 2x M3 Self-Lock Nylon ( Tension wheels Arms )
  •  1x M3 Hex Nut ( Knob )
  •  1x M3 Screw 12mm ( Leadscrew )
  •  1x M3 Screw 20mm ( Leadscrew Knob )
  •  1x M3 Screw 8mm ( Adjust arm that attach to LeadScrew table )
  •  1x M3 Screw 10mm (Fix Arm )
  • 2x M3 Screw 16mm ( Tension wheels )
  • 4x Magnets ( 10mmx5x1.85 )
  • (optional) - 1x Ball Point Pen spring, that i cut a small part and put on the outer leadscrew tension screw with an extra washer, this will allow you to tension the knob more easily.
  • Locktite ( did use the green one is the one with the least strength, on my knob screw that attach to the leadscrew, let it dry)

Depend on your printer tolerances and filament, you my need a small file to adjust the leadscrew table, this part must move freely before you assembly.

Later if need i will add a drop of superglue on the leadscrew tension screw so they do not came lose, we will see.

Happy printing,
