Description

My wife asked me for something to hold her phone, drink, and Bluetooth speaker when she's in pool. So, this is what I came up with.

Secures to the top tube/frame of an Intex pool.

No tools or fasteners needed. The tray slides on to the frame and the support bracket slide on to the frame underneath the tray. Note that these are a fairly tight fit so that the tray and support do not slide off. My initial design had a pin to hold the support in place, but found the support and tray held pretty well without it. I may look at putting the pin or some other retention/locking feature back in for future revisions.

The frame is secured to the pool by a clamp with two screws. The threads are a fairly tight fit. This is my first go at modeling threads, so they could be better. However, I've found that tight fit on the screws helps prevent them from backing out. I ran the screws through the frame and backed them out before attaching it to the pool.

Printed in PETG to handle the heat & solar load. I wouldn't recommend PLA for this application.

I already have some revisions underway to reduce the material and print time. Feel free to drop comments with recommendations.

*****Updates*****

  1. An A1 Mini profile has been added.  The support bracket has a section removed to allow the components to fit on one plate.  The tray size has been reduced to fit on the A1 Mini build plate.

any ideas why this is failing?? it looks perfect then suddenly top layers start ripping off. tried your profile and my own but it’s almost like it’s warping and pulling the whole build plate up with it. still stuck to the bed. lol. want to get this thing printed!

That's crazy. What printer and material are you using? I've had PETG wrap/peel up off the bed before, but that was before I had an enclosed printer (P1S). It also wasn't to the extent that it actually pulled the plate up. At least you're having good bed adhesion🤷‍♂️.

my P1S is what I’m using with polymaker PETG. seemed to do slightly better at 75 bed temp so idk if I should try 80. lol it’s strange. never had this happen but this is the biggest square of PETG I’ve ever done. But bed adhesion is certainly good, no problems there. what bed temp and filament do you use? everything else printed great. just this one part. for now I’ve flipped it upside down so that terrible top is the bottom. haha but would like to figure this out for sure. just don’t wanna go too hot on the bed. but I’ve seen people say 80 is what they use. 🤷🏻

I printed this with Overture PETG and I'm pretty sure my bed temp was at 80. I ran across this file on MakerWorld for a PETG filament profile and it worked great for me. https://makerworld.com/models/149795

Great Print ! Unfortunately I had some adhesion issues at 77% tray warped causing the nozzle to scrape half the tray up before i caught it (no glue, PETG, and default presets in Bambu studio for A1) But being the cheapskate I am I used it anyways. I can always print it again with some glue maybe. Thanks for the print Pool stuff is the best !

As long as it works, it doesn't always have to look pretty!

I have that same Intex pool. Can the A1 Mini print this?

You could probably do all the parts but the tray on a mini. I'll take a look at a making a smaller tray and split up the parts into multiple plates to work on a mini. I'll reply back here when I post it.

I just uploaded an A1 mini profile. I modified the support bracket to get all the components to fit on one build plate and shrunk the tray size down. Post a pic if you print it!

came out good, having some personal problems with the large plate warping and pulling my build plate off the printer, but the print profile and model are great! Was searching for something just like this a while ago and couldn’t find one and unfortunately I’m not great with CAD and between family and work have no time to try and learn. it’s perfect! love that people share their awesome models and don’t charge you for em.

Great Idea, will print today. Maybe you can take inspiration from https://makerworld.com/en/models/500932#profileId-415976 and use the support of the vertical pool tube...
