Description

Update:

I've created a new version taking in all the suggestions and feedback, check it out here

https://makerworld.com/en/models/486153#profileId-398821

I'll keep this version available for those who need a simpler solution or need to print replacement parts.

Keep your filamant dry with the SUPER AMS Lite Spool Enclosure!

The major advantages of the enclosures are…

  1. Lightweight
  2. Easy to print (No support needed)
  3. Requires minimal additional parts (only a PTFE tube and connector)
  4. Compatible with the Bambulab AMS Lite Top Mount
  5. Option for adding your own Hygrometer

Instructions

Install the spool support, this prevents the enclosure from sagging.

Install pneumatic connectors(6mm) with 10 cm of PTFE tubes.

Install your filament.

Click the enclosure into position.

Insert dessicant packs into the side pockets.

All Done!

very nice design, fortunately my bed is not big enough so i split the print into part. some hot glue and positioning the split do the trick. Good work realy helpful for me.

Enclosure Cover - with Hygrometer
Lids can be a chore to get on at first but seem to get easier over time. Had issue where I'd constantly get a filament load error but it seems this was due to the PTFE tube extending too far out of the enclosure. Pulled it back some and haven't gotten the error again. Still would recommend extending the height of the upper bearing surface as the enclosure doesn't always stay fixed when filament is retracted.

Do you mean extending this distance? so that it is closer to the AMS?

No, I haven't had the issue in a while but I meant extending the surface that bears into the feeder to ensure no chance of slipping. Included a picture below.

ah, I see I did extend it abit in the later version, I’ll monitor to see if I’ll need to extend it again.

Started print only thing I did was switch to PETG which is calibrated, and since I don't have an A1 using X1. Didn't do that great.

I've tested on both PLA and PETG which works for me, but it does seem that there are more complaints when printing with PETG.

Yeah it managed to work fine when done in PLA Do you have a link for the 6mm threaded connectors?

Hello Supergrapher, I'm pretty new to 3d printing but I did model a container that holds dessicant for this dry box. Of course, It is meant only for the one side of the container that has the biggest pocket but I'm sure you could cut my container in half to fit the other side. I'll add a picture of it here. The lid is realtively loose so I opt to throw a little scotch tape on the side to make sure it doesn't spill. It's also heavy enough that it forces the dry box to turn all the way up. Holes are 1.1 diameter so it will fit most dessicant. If it is okay could I upload this?

Hi thankyou fir creating this!, cant print on a1 mini, thank god it fits on my mk4, i tried other dry box, doesnt fit on my mk4. I have questions about pneumatic connector, can give specific size? what size the thread? what size is the whole for ptfe, measured bambu ptfe is average 4mm, and the thread hole on the drybox is roughly 5.5mm, so is it pneumatic connector 4mm ptfe and 6mm thread?

because they indicate the position of the AMS feeder unit

The seal doesn't seem perfect, with humidity still as high as 40-50% even with desiccants used.(live in the southern island, outdoors usually 55-65%). Using a rice barrel can keep it under 25%-20%. Also the lid is not easy to secure and tends to crack after a few uses even print with PETG, and the filament spool is difficult to replace.

Did you put any desiccants inside? 1-2 bags new bags should be able to lower it under ambient humidity. It prints best using PLA. To remove the spool, grab the edges with your fingers using 2 hands (Kung Fu Tiger Paw style), brace your thumb on against the spool holder and pull it out.

对对,我也是,今天外面60~70,米桶里30 (平时没这么潮可以到25%) ,这里面只能达到45% Me, too. I can only achieve 45% today (ambient 60-70), well the best seal I have can reach 25-30.

I added a pass through adapter for those that didn't get pass through fittings and sometimes the lids are difficult to close but pretty awesome otherwise
