Description

The nozzles for the Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus and Neptune 4 Max are longer than your standard nozzles, and therefore don't fit (or fit well) into many of the available boxes and cases.

Then along comes Matthew's Nozzle Box. This box went through many designs to meet my exacting eye, and fingers. It starts as a simple box, that fits 25 nozzles. The nozzle spaces (volcanoes?) are shaped and spaced for easy retrieval. Fat fingers? No worries here. A hinge mechanism was designed and optimized to maximize stability and alignment every time you open and close it. And of course, it's print-in-place. In case, you wanted some extra alignment, you'll find some nubs added to assist with this as well, though they're mostly there so I could use the word nubs. After testing many different closure mechanisms for use with PLA, I found that they were all lacking in one way or another. Repeated use of many closures seems to wear them out when using PLA, and quite a few were easy to snap when printed in this orientation as well. Since the box is generally not going to be opened or closed multiple times each day, I opted for a more secure, and fun mechanism… a 3d printed screw. It's long enough to work, but not so long that you're spending valuable time trying to get it open. And that, my distinguished readers, is the design.

(Of course, this will still fit standard nozzles too.)

There are two versions, with and without the Elegoo logo.

With so many nozzle choices available, I didn't feel it made sense to “pre-label” various areas, only to later fill them with something that doesn't match. Therefore, these are not labeled. If people ask for it, I will upload customized versions.

Update 5/6/2024: Increased tolerance for hinge and nozzle volcanoes.

Printing tips:

  • 0.20mm layer height
  • 10% infill works well for the box, especially gyroid
  • 25% infill for the screw
  • orientation already set in the files
  • supports: organic may be helpful for the two holes though is not required

I printed in Elegoo blue and black PLA.

Note: There are three test files. One is to test the tolerance for your nozzle. I have slightly increased the size of the hole overall in the box so there shouldn't be any issues, but if you want to test it… There is also a test thread file which is a nut with the same hole and thread as the box. I recommend you print them in the orientation they will be in the model if you plan to test them beforehand. Last test file is for a hinge. Print as oriented.
