A very easy to print 6-sided dice (40x40x40mm) with customizable inserts that are printed seperately to streamline the print process. The dice prints without supports.
Assembly
- Prior to inserting the colored inserts, make sure you clean up the bottom facing cutout. The bridges might interfere with the precise tolerances and could cause the insert to stick out just a little bit. I use a slotted screwdriver for this task. Just scrape them out which takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Ensure that you correctly insert the dice with its right side facing up, paying attention to the subtle chamfer on the inside.
- The dice inserts diameter matches the cutouts, so usually they pressfit into the cube. Your experience might vary depending on the material used and your printer calibration. Use some glue or increase the insert's diameter if you are not satisfied with the results. Personally I prefer to increase the diameter of the inserts by +.20mm (I added various oversized variants in the print profile and as STL). I employ a clamp to steadily press the oversized insert into position. This process requires some patience, but the end result justifies the effort. If the insert does not sit flush, rotate the dice and then repeat the clamping process. Given that the dice is solid, you can apply a considerable amount of force.
