Description

I created this Duplo compatible jail cell so the kids could put the bag guys in jail. In features a lose fitting, removeable top for loading in the the bad guys. The default model in the .3mf is 6x6 duplo pegs, and you can customize this using the included OpenSCAD *.scad file to make it other sizes and adjust the number of bars on the length and width to make the jail as tight or loose as you would like.

In this build, the jail bars are printed as part of the duplo connection point base and then the top frame is glued on. I left a good amount of gap in the indents on the top frame to make it easier for things like hot glue. You may be able to adjust this so you have a friction grip and will not need glue. I also printed the main base with a raft because of adhesion issue on the first few builds.

Customization Note: The online “customizer” feature will not work because you need to import the base generator from the referenced remix (Yet Another Duplo Brick Generator), i.e., this is not self contained on one single OpenSCAD file. To download the OpenSCAD file from Maker World, it is actually under “Download STL” even though it is OpenSCAD (as of 16 May 2024 current Maker World UI).

Hi. Will you please review the scad file. I tried to customize it here, and nothing is generating.

Hello, my OpenSCAD file requires importing the original Duplo Base file. I see MakerWorld recently added the OpenSCAD customizer feature, but this model was not setup to use it. To customize this you would need to download the OpenSCAD file and also get the original base remixed from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3320303 . The base generator is really complex and it would be hard to maintain as one large file, I don't believe online customizers can support importing files, etc. As of the time of this comment, it looks like MakerWorld renamed "raw" to just be under "Download STL". When I uploaded the model, I added a note (see photo), but the current layout of MakerWorld doesn't make it easy to figure all of this out. Hope this comment will help, but to customize I think you will need to download from here and the original on Thingiverse and do it locally.
