This customizable glider model is built with OpenSCAD and there are many options available to tinker with and experiment. Great for STEM activity and competitions - Who's glider will go the furthest!? The mode consists of four simple pieces that go together with simple friction on most printers. It uses a small amount of filament and its a quick print to try out different iterations. A few examples are included as print profiles, but there are many different things you can try using Customizer.
TIP: Each part is its own object in the slicer, if you are only changing one part you should be able to go into objects and only print the new parts you changed to help save on filament as you try different iterations!
Options you can customize include:
The OpenSCAD file include many comments and options are explained with text. Most important options are user-controllable, but you can always jump into the code to super fine tune things.
WARNING: There are many options you can control. There are some combinations that will cause errors due to math/rendering when used in combination. Customizer only allows static values so it becomes complicated to prevent/handle all error conditions. If you run into any issues where it does not render or throws an error, reset that particular option and try something different!
Please post any profiles you think are really good and include your photos in your comments if you come up with something very cool!
