Description

I wanted an AMS Riser that would give me amazing visibility into the printer through the top glass along with the ability to add an LED strip to light the print area up like the sun. So, I remixed this model to push the AMS back and added an angled surface to mount the LEDs to, with a cutout for the start of the strip and cable routing.

Along the way, I also:

  • Added a storage location to hold 2 additional build plates
  • Added an optional spool holder with filament guide (for printing TPU or from odd sized spools)
  • Maintained the shelves to hold the glass top open for cooling
  • Redesigned the assembly procedure
  • Kept the total filament usage under 600g!

Black Bambu PLA Tough and Bambu PLA support. Thanks for the awesome design! Nearly perfect, but a few nitpicks: Plate holders are a weak spot. Broke twice trying to remove supports. Maybe make them separate pieces you glue on later? Lip for glass top needs a recessed area for the small screws that connect the handle to the glass. Optional rear pieces with a LED cable hole would be nice. Used a negative cylinder in Studio to create one. Recessed areas on top for AMS feet would also be nice.

There is a number of peg holes that are printing in thin air. Mine eventually worked out, but it's messy in that area while also being fragile if you push the pegs too far. I'm looking to change to 10% infill for the remaining piece, but I found the issue when printing pieces 3 & 7 on plate 2. (2nd pic is an example with 10% infill showing it has something to print on.)

Good catch, I'll take a look at putting this in the print profile. I can likely solve that one area with a modifier block but I wish slicers would give us the option to paint in additional infill where we want it. Or generate a hybrid lightning infill so I supports where it needs to in addition to another structure like grid or cubic

Printed in PETG with no supports, came out pretty good apart from the plate holder hadn't printed properly due to no supports, but still works fine, fits 3 plates easily, feels pretty solid too, just onto printing the spool holder and filament guide now Spool holder and guide printed and attached now too, came out great, much prefer this spool placement to the original

Printed a blue red and silver one for my X1c and a white and silver one for my P1s love the looks my only question is the filament guide for the external spool could be bigger to attach a PTFE tube i tried to widen the hole for mine but just broke the tip off lol

I print it with PETG and I can see after assembly that, it is smaller like my top glass 😬 maybe 2mm is missing. But it is very nice design... I will see what will be better when I stick the seal
