Description

I wanted more control over the shape of the cup holder than what the original code provided. The cup holder on my Cub Cadet lawn tractor is much wider at the top than the bottom and it's very deep. Yet it still doesn't quite fit my Camelback Eddy+.

The original version didn't let you change the bottom diameter and it used the current cup holder depth as the new top section height. This made a very awkward adapter for my tractor. I wanted an adapter that would fit tightly into the current cup holder so it won't come out when I'm mowing. Additionally, I didn't want a bottom so that if it rains or I spill the liquid would drain out of the bottom drain hole in the existing cup holder. I also wasn't interested in the text option and the code was too finicky for my liking anyway. :)

The main changes I made were:

  • Removed all of the text code
  • Changed the way the slit is created so that it has more square edges instead of pointed
  • Added many more customization options to the sizes of various parts of the adapter
  • Added sections to the settings to make them easier to find
  • Fixed some issues where the cylinders wouldn't align properly at some sizes
  • Made all of the options accept decimals by making the default values use them

You can now customize all of the following options:

  • Top diameter of your existing cup holder.
  • Bottom diameter of your existing cup holder.
  • How deep your existing cup holder is.
  • Internal diameter desired for larger cups.
  • How deep the upper part of the holder will be.
  • Include a slit for a cup handle?
  • How wide should the slit be?
  • How far from the expanded base should the slit be?
  • How thick to make the walls of the adapter.
  • How thick to make the base of the adapter. Zero will have no bottom.
  • How tall should the transition from small cup to large cup be? (This creates a slope most 3D printers can manage without supports. DO NOT set this to less than wall_thickness).
  • Number of faces on the holder. More faces makes the surface rounder, but slower to process.
