MakerWorld Community Post Guidelines
MakerWorld Community Post Guidelines

This article offers suggestions for creators on posts that are more likely to attract traffic in the community while also outlining what to avoid to stay within the community's guidance. These recommendations will help you understand the expected standards to uphold the quality of community.

Quality Expectations:

We aim for the content to empower our community members, helping to build a valuable and meaningful ecosystem that benefits both creators and users.

👍For Creators, How to make your posts more popular?

Here are the suggested submission themes we have collected for your reference.

Stage 1:Before the Design of Models:

1: Contents such as "Choose the Next Model"

Before designing, creators can harness the power of their fans for inspiration. These options will be presented in an article format, allowing fans to make their selections in the comment section.

It is also strongly recommended to include detailed descriptions or scripts for the available options to avoid any confusion.

Stage 2: During the Process of Designing Models:

1:Pre-release

Creators are highly recommended to offer clear descriptions of upcoming models, along with preview images from the modeling process, visually showcasing the expected renderings to fans. This allows you to gather early feedback, refine your design, and generate buzz before your model goes live! Updates not only build excitement but also invite valuable feedback to refine the design before its final release.

2: Behind the scene

Creators are highly encouraged to share the creative journey of their model, including sketches, the modeling process, and updates on the latest progress. This helps engage the audience by giving them a behind-the-scenes look at the project’s development.

Stage 3: After the Model is Released

1、Latest Update:

For this section, instead of just reposting the model link, creators are strongly encouraged to promote their models in article form. Specifically, consider including your background story, your design concept, and detailed assembly guidelines (if needed). This will give your audience a clear overview and help them appreciate the effort you’ve put into the project.

2、Troubleshooting

After users print your model, they might encounter technical issues related to the prints. As the best person to solve these problems, you're highly encouraged to collect feedback from your fans and frequently answer their questions. This will not only help you address their concerns but also allow you to refine and improve your models.

3、Sharing insightful tips

As an experienced designer, you’ve undoubtedly gained valuable knowledge and skills in 3D printing. Sharing your tips is a fantastic opportunity to help your audience grow alongside you.

Stage 4: Future Plans

Future Roadmap: To give both you and your audience a clearer understanding of the upcoming plans for your models, it's highly recommended to create an organized roadmap in article form. This will keep your audience informed about what to expect next and build anticipation for future releases.

Creator Story:

Share your journey, your inspiration, your lessons.
Let the MakerWorld community connect with the creator behind the model.

New Section Rules

  • Recommendation: Curated high-quality and dynamic content recommended by the community.
  • Creator's Club: Creators exchange model design experience and skills, share behind-the-scenes stories, and discuss experiences in MakerWorld.
  • Creators & Fans: Creators update fans on your design progress, gather their suggestions, and share model previews and communicate to fans.
  • Show Your Make: Users share and displaying their 3D printed works and finished projects.
  • Off Topic: Discuss other 3D printing related content and topics.

Please note: Posts that do not meet section requirements will be removed.

❌Actions We don't Encourage

1、Self-promotion of models by simply reposting the link with less description.

2、Synchronizing meaningless rating posts in community(A high-quality rated post should include: a rating, a detailed description after printing, and real photos of the printed model.)

3、Deliberately generating invalid or malicious traffic through topics, polls, pictures unrelated to 3D printing, meaningless content, or AI-generated images

4、1)Begging for boost, follower, gift card, downloads, or any promotion activity

2)Interchange/trade of boost and follow

@AustinH Thanks so much Maker World for making these changes! I love when us 3D printing enthusiasts can share tips, and tell about our 3D printing journey, and just post 3D printing related things only!

@PhantomDread makerworld, Could you please have a setting to filter out ratings, I am actually tired of seeing so many ratings and i just want to interact with the community. Please put a setting to block reviews.

@3D_Prince Maker world, If a model does not have a real photo, and people have down loaded it and used it and liked it, boosted it and given the print profiles positive reviews, Please stop taking them down, and Stop taking away points earned on them, Just push the the Model back to draft until a real photo is uploaded or at least allow the creator to make edits to the uploaded model and republish it with any corrections that may seem needed. Honest People put a lot of work into designing these models and also promoting them on social media to drive traffic to your MakerWorld web site. it is very discouraging to your content creators that are helping build your MakerWorld website and brand when they are taken down by your AI or reports from haters. it could also help users feel like they can trust MakerWorld / Bambu to not be Evil.

@Cypherous @3D_Prince : Well agree to disagree, no matter how simple the model i still print it to verify it actually works with the settings i've listed, given its also literally part of the rules aswell as all print profiles require a photo of the printed model, and have done for as long as i can remember

@3D_Prince @PhantomDread : no I have not, but I bet that people don't post positive reviews of the none printable ones. so I think its a self correcting problem in the community. besides if you make a model in openscad and upload it to MakerWorld do you have to put a real photo? I don't think so. I think its not possible because the combination of results are endless. besides I think thingiverse is models for the sake of models not that they are all printable anyway. does thingaverse have print profiles? I don't have a great camera and my lighting makes every thing yellow so I prefer computer graphic images and they are easier considering I designed them in a 3D software in the first place. I think MakerWorld is holding their food on the brakes and slowing down progress for everyone by adding this needless step by requiring a real photo. cheaters can be caught easily enough with out it. MakerWorld puts you in a 5 day review before you get anything from them anyway even when you do have real photos, I do not agree that requiring real photos serves the purposes that it is intended for when they already have their won process and the community to help punish cheaters.

@Romans1x16 This all sounds great! I will admit, 2 of the useless posts listed are mine. I have since deleted most of my posts, all useless posts as well. I apologize for that, I now put more detail into my posts and keep them relevant. I do have a proposal, do you guys think it's possible to make a review have to have a minimum word requirement, say 200, and a picture attached to be eligible to post? It is ridiculous how many reviews I see in the community saying "good" then 5 stars and no picture! It's just an idea. Thanks for all you guys do!
