Description

New factore size for large printer !

A few weeks ago, I published a design for the well-known ikea skadis boards, printable on the A1 mini.
Following further feedback, I've created a new version for the 250x250mm printer.

FYI: I don't own a printer of this size, so I couldn't print this version. But it should work just as well as my version for A1 mini, which you can find here : https://makerworld.com/en/models/462632#profileId-371160

An interpretation of the Ikea Skadis board with infinite size possibilities, featuring invisible screws and a design aimed at using less plastic for a more economical print price.

For example, you always need to print the A, C, G, I plates, you can use these four plates to create the smaller size.

If you want a taller one, simply print two, four, six… plates D, F for a taller size like the picture.

If you want a larger one, simply print two, four, six… plates B, H.

And if you want a bigger square, print all and add more B, D, E, F, H to complete your desired size.

To fix the plate to the wall, use screws with a diameter of 4mm. For my assembly, I use TX20 screws to fix my plates in the wood.

FYI: It may be cheaper to buy the original Ikea Skadis.

But if you're far from an ikea store, are interested in the screwless design and just need a small modular format, then my design may not be so bad, I tried to design it with the minimum of plastic needed to reduce the final cost and get closer to the ikea price for a similar size.

Personally, with 1kg spools I bought for 20 euros, the final cost of my print cost me around 13 euros, compared with 10 euros for a skadis of the same size currently on sale in France (02/2024).
Sure, it cost me more, but it suited my needs, so it's up to you to choose the best option.

Printing can also be messy, so for best results I recommend printing the first layer slowly.

Happy printing :)

By my calculations the Skadis board from Ikea costs at least .042 USD/sqin where this model has a price of .035 USD/sqin (@ 20USD/KG) and there is also the option for color. I'm going to use only #8 x 2 in. drywall screws to install them. I cut one of the plates in half to make an angled connector for a custom installation. It will take some time to finish it but I'll add photos soon enough.

My printer (X1 Carbon) cant print it because of exclusion areas, if you could shrink it just a little bit to make a model for the x1 carbon that would be great

That would be awesome, have the same problem here

You can set your exclusion area to nothing in settings of the printer. Make sure to save those values in notepad or sth to bring them back later.

Replying to @user_891561262 :
will this affect cutting? it says it needs that area for cutting or something

Excellent design, but a small issue troubles me regarding the fit of each plate. Because after printing, I discovered that each position is different and does not fit. So I suggest adding small marks to the plates for distinction, which would allow for better utilization of this model
