Boost Me (for free)

Please feel free to support me for more design :)

Updated 2.1 (18032025):

  • Chain with tighter chain clip.
  • Additional adjustment chains +-4mm.

Z Aixs drag chain system has been updated with new chain, top and bottom mount to be much simpler, cleaner and doesn't require any additional parts.

Update design was inspired by Andrews work.

https://makerworld.com/en/models/835521#profileId-780687

The print profile shared would be slightly slower but it's set to be the most stable and lowest risk of failed print. For best print outcome, PLEASE clean your build plate with alcohol wipe for best bed adhesion/print outcome.

A1mini side drag chain mount parts list:

Top mount - 1

Bottom mount - 1

Bottom mount clip - 1

Drag chain - 13

Drag chain Clip - 13

Additional shorten clip to fit and adjust length for slight difference in cable length.

+4mm chain link and clip

-4mm chain link and clip

Did you create a cutout in the raised edge of the storage box to make it fit, or did you solve it differently/better?

Replying to @pdesign :
Yes, I simply cut away the interfering contour from the storage box with wire cutters It still doesn't quite fit perfectly, but I preferred this design to the others

I will consider in doing the bed chain as I personally prefer to let it be as it's just a cable:)

Unfortunately, the A1's design has been altered. Noise suppression is integrated at the bottom end. Therefore, the cable routing is incompatible at this point.

if any one can provide me with accurate measurement of the base I could design a mount for it.

Oh! I thought so, the cable is more oriented towards the "outside." I just got an A1 a week ago... I was about to print it. What measurements do you need? Let’s talk and I’ll take them.

Very nice design. Love it. Made a profile without generated support. Maybe not necessary, but I saw this tree support and said in my mind - challenge accepted :-D Turned out well.

The print profile is no longer public
Could easily be reduced to a two plate profile and still include a couple of spare links. Mine clipped together a bit tight, could use a few millimeters of slack. The z-axis base and gantry snap print beautifully though!

I downloaded the dual color cover project from printables, imported just the cover from this download at the same position and merged them. https://www.printables.com/de/model/929869-bambu-lab-a1-mini-x-axis-motor-front-cover/files

Would be great to combine this face plate with cable organizer from https://makerworld.com/en/models/104167#profileId-402354. This would create almost genuine looking product :-).

A1 Mini - clips holding the back of the chain are very loose and pop off when it moves... any recommendations for print settings to fix? EDIT: Printed the clips to 97% scale as per a previous comment and this was no longer an issue. The design is still brilliant. Just be sure to remove all skirt material to get a proper fit.

Not a problem. I had a skim down the comments and seen a recommendation to print the clips to 97% scale. Just done that and it works perfectly. It's still a brilliant design. I will edit my original comment and rerate accordingly.

Is it possible to create a reinforced version of the lower part? Mine has broken three times already… always in the same place. Otherwise, the chain is truly perfect and beautiful. Printed with Bambu PLA Matte That would be fantastic, just a bit more substantial in that area. Best Regards Philipp

hm is the filament dry? did you try printing with other filament? I’ll come out with a stronger version.
1
Reply
Yes, the filament is dry I have used the entire spool over the last two days without any issues I haven’t tried it with other filaments yet as I want the printer’s aesthetic to remain consistent It would be wonderful if you could do this It broke right at the edge
