The PET Feeder is a modern automatic feeding device designed for regular and accurate dispensing of dry pet food. The device is controlled by an ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller and configured through a simple web application.

Support my design, and I'll reward you by publishing the extension:

100 Likes and 20 BoostsI'll add another design with a larger volume.
200 Likes and 50 BoostsI'll publish a script for the ESP32 and Raspberry Pico to make it easy to set up the feeder's logic, including the web app.

Thanks to its elegant appearance and clean lines, the feeder is designed to become a natural part of a modern interior.

Smart Feeding Control

The web application allows users to conveniently set:

  • the interval between individual feedings,
  • the size of each portion,
  • a regular daily feeding schedule,
  • manual food dispensing when needed.

The settings can be easily adjusted according to the size of the pet, its daily routine, or the recommended amount of food.

Accurate Portion Dispensing

The food is dispensed using a motor-driven mechanism that allows the feeder to deliver consistently sized portions. The portion size can be controlled by adjusting the motor running time or the number of rotations of the dispensing mechanism.

Before regular use, the feeder can be calibrated according to the specific type and size of the dry food pellets.

ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico

The feeder electronics can be built around two different control units.

The ESP32 is an ideal solution for a version with integrated Wi-Fi connectivity and direct control through a web interface.

The Raspberry Pi Pico provides simple and reliable control of the motor and other electronic components. For wireless connectivity, the Raspberry Pi Pico W version can be used.

Web Application

The control interface is accessible through a web browser on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. There is no need to install a separate mobile application.

My script is set up so that, in the first phase, the control board configures itself as an AP and creates a Wi-Fi hotspot named "PET_FEEDER" with the password: 12345678.

The user connects to it, and the Setup Mode will appear at the IP address 192.168.4.1, where you can set the SSID and password for your local network. After that, the controller will be assigned an IP address, where you’ll find Control Mode. You can also find it at: http://petfeeder.local

Here you can set the desired interval and portion size. The values are entered in hours and auger revolutions. So set the right portion size for your pet yourself.

The "Reset All" button will then clear all settings and disconnect from the local network.

The system is designed for security and for management within a local network.

Designed for 3D Printing

The body of the PET Feeder is manufactured using 3D printing from PLA material. The individual parts are designed so they can be printed on a standard home 3D printer.

The construction consists of several separate components, making printing, assembly, electronics maintenance, and replacement of individual parts easier.

PLA Material

PLA is a popular 3D printing material because of its easy printability, good dimensional accuracy, and attractive surface finish. It makes it possible to create a strong and visually appealing enclosure suitable for indoor use.

Parts that come into direct contact with pet food should be removable and easy to clean. For hygienic operation, it is recommended to use a separate insert or container intended for food contact.

Modern Interior Design

The PET Feeder is not designed only as a technical device. Its shape, color scheme, and surface texture can be customized to match the style of the home.

Hidden electronics, a compact construction, and an elegant dispensing opening help create a clean and modern appearance without unnecessary visual distractions.

Main Benefits

  • automatic and regular feeding,
  • adjustable portion size,
  • control through a web application,
  • operation based on ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico,
  • construction suitable for home 3D printing,
  • easy modification and replacement of individual parts,
  • modern design suitable for contemporary interiors,
  • customizable colors and surface textures.

I'll add more visual styles after I get some Likes and Boosts.
