Description

Hexshell Mini Pocket Pen

An original pen design that quickly transforms from comfortable pocket-sized to full-sized by removing the cap and stowing it on the rear of the pen. The Hexshell texture provides excellent grip and is comfortable to hold.

Features

  • Pocket-sized length of 97mm (3.81")
  • Full-sized writing length of 146mm (5.75")
  • Cap firmly snaps closed onto both ends of the pen.
  • Secure clip that provides firm retention to clothing.
  • Accepts common ink refills from multiple brands. Just insert and cut to length!
  • Backwards compatible with the original and the Hexcore mini pocket pens.

Purchased Items

Each assembly requires a ballpoint pen ink refill, such as these found here (non-affiliate link): https://a.co/d/7Q3lAtH

Printing Tips

  • Always clean your build plate with water and mild soap.
  • No Supports - All parts are designed to print without supports.
  • Brim - A brim is required for the barrel of the pen.
  • Recommended Material - PLA Basic and PLA Matte filaments. Good quality filament that demonstrates strong layer adhesion is a must. Dry your filaments before printing and/or bump your nozzle temperatures a tiny bit if you experience issues.
  • If the snap fit of the pen barrel to the cap is too loose, make the following adjustments in the slicer:
    • Adjust the pen barrel's X-Y contour compensation in increments of 0.025mm
    • Adjust the cap's X-Y hole compensation in increments of -0.025mm
Make this adjustment for a firmer snap fit between the cap and pen barrel.

Assembly

Each assembly requires one each of the printed components plus an ink refill.
Use an ink refill that is longer than 92.8mm (3.65"). Shorter ink refills will require custom ink caps.
Insert the ink refill into the pen. It should be a light to moderate press fit. Do not remove once inserted.
Use a utility knife to score the perimeter of the ink refill flush to the rear of the pen body.
Snap the ink refill pointing away from your face.
Slide the ink cap over the rear of the ink refill and into the rear of the pen body.
Firmly press the ink cap into place.
Insure proper orientation of the clip to the pen's cap.
Gently flex the clip and insert the inner post into the pen's cap. This should be a press fit.
Gently flex the clip and insert the outer post into the pen's cap. This should be a press fit.
The assembly is complete.
