Description

The Impossible Hitch: The Hitch Illusion

Want to master the prank that's leaving everyone speechless?

The Real Secret: An Optical and Auditory Illusion

Contrary to what most people try, the "Impossible Hitch" doesn't work with an actual locking mechanism. The big trick is that the hook never actually touches the rubber band. It's physically impossible for them to lock mechanically. The key to success lies in a manual manipulation technique that creates the illusion of an instant lock.

To make the prank work and for the object to appear to "shoot" and lock, follow these steps:

Show your friends that you can attach the hook to the rubber band. To do this, hold the pieces firmly between your thumb and forefinger and insert the hook into the hole, aligning the two points. Make smooth movements as if you were trying to lock the pieces together. When you want to make it seem like they're held together by the rubber band, gently separate the two pieces, without removing the hook, so they're about a centimeter apart. Then, apply pressure with two fingers to the bevel of the hook piece. The piece will spring forward quickly, creating a small sound as it hits the other, simulating the rubber band exerting that force. Separate the pieces after making a few small movements as if you were unhooking them internally, and give them to your victim.

You'll see them try unsuccessfully to align the hook with the pin, as the design prevents actual physical contact.

With this pressure technique, the "Impossible Hitch" becomes the perfect tool to demonstrate that sometimes what we see is simply a matter of perspective and manual dexterity. Enjoy leaving everyone perplexed!

To assemble, insert a small piece of elastic rubber 1mm in diameter into the holes, insert a washer on each side and knot the ends of the rubber to secure it.
