Upgrade your style with this fully customizable Diamond Knurled Ring. Designed with a high-resolution texture and a calculated "Comfort Fit" interior, this ring feels as good as it looks. The engineered "Rail System" makes it incredibly easy to print in multicolor, even if you are new to 3D printing and do not own an AMS.

🧠 Behind the Design (For Makers & Moderators) 

While rings are often categorized as simple extrusions, this is a fully parametric, algorithmically generated jewelry framework. Crucially for FDM manufacturing, the code implements a dynamic thermal expansion and 'printer squish' variable (Print_Tolerance) directly into the bore calculations to guarantee absolute dimensional accuracy for sizing. The OpenSCAD script employs advanced 3D transformations, utilizing rotate_extrude() mapped along a calculated offset vector to procedurally generate a precise ergonomic 'Comfort Fit' internal torus radius. Furthermore, complex features like the central inlay grooves and dynamic rail systems are generated via precise boolean operations (difference(), union()) with engineered Z-axis overlaps (e.g., Ring_Width + 5) to actively prevent Z-fighting and guarantee a manifold, high-resolution ($fn = Resolution) mesh for flawless slicing.

 

🛠️ What can you customize?

  • Perfect Sizing: Input your exact inner diameter (mm). (e.g., US Size 9 ≈ 19.0mm).
  • Pattern Control: Choose between Diamond, Spiral, or Vertical textures and adjust the depth for a subtle or aggressive grip.
  • Profile Shape: Select a flat, modern profile or a classic "Domed" (rounded) look. 
  • Inlay Groove: Add a central channel if you want to glue in a gemstone strip or glow-in-the-dark tape.

 

🖨️ Print Settings

  • Quality: Low layer height recommended for the best texture detail.
  • Seam: Set "Seam Position" to "Random" to hide the Z-seam in the texture.
  • Material: PLA, PETG, or PLA-Metal (Silver/Gold looks amazing but anything should work).

 

💡 Why did I make this model?
I wanted a ring that looked premium but cost cents to make. Existing models were often uncomfortably sharp, simple tubes. I engineered the internal chamfers (Comfort Fit) and the Rails to make it a truly wearable and accessible piece of jewelry.
