Description

Mitre Protractor

Another extremely simple yet handy marking tool (once you know how to read the two scales that is…. but trust me its very simple once you know how). Its main purpose is to find or transfer angle measurements of both Internal or External corners so you can cut single or Mitred cuts that will perfectly match. So - an essential tool for use with Mitre Saws in particular. See below YouTube video which gives an overview.

As per my other tool models, this design had to be:

  • fully 3D printable
  • versatile and with decent resolution & accuracy for the degree scales.
  • Robust! and so able to stand to a workshop environment

This model is the result & I am really pleased with how it turned out. It feels super sturdy and has a very satisfying sliding action. The thumb screw only needs to be tight enough to prevent the device from moving on its own accord, and as you actually want it to pivot without having to loosen the bolt each time…. just set and forget.

Zero support required, and as mentioned, no need for metal fasteners as the securing bolt & slide nut are printed too.

For better accuracy, I have opted for minimal clearances, so for some, once assembled it may be necessary to rotate the plates around their travel range to bed them in. In testing mine have all worked straight away, but this should nock off any blobs etc.

I hope this increases measuring / marking bliss for you like it has me!
