I wanted to create a modular system to hold all the hexes for Eclipse to stop movement of the tiles.
The tiles fit snugly and if you are happy connecting the hexes every time just print the central 3 prong files.
If you want to create a central block of hexes for the first 2 or three rings, I recommend using a mix of the 1/2/3 prong central tiles, this will allow you to ensure that all hexes have the female connectors facing outwards in all directions. This will make it much easier to clip more hexes on during the game. I glued mine to 5mm thick Perspex (which I cut to shape with a jigsaw, slightly undersize)
(Nine 3-prongs, Five 2-prongs and 5 1-prongs- Can be used to create the first 2 rings)
To make up for the increased thickness, my outer hexes are 5.1mm higher. They also only have one prong to make it easy to expand in any direction.
If you use a different thickness of board to attach your central hexes, slice a layer off the bottom of the outer single prong hex, you can either remove this or stretch it vertically and re add it, depend on if you need higher or lower tiles.
Try not to just scale this entire tile, otherwise you will change the dimensions of the clips.
