Model Introduction

Mini retractable sword 9 - Whirlwind Sword: Based on the weapon Whirlwind Sword from the classic Chinese animation series *Rainbow Cat and Blue Rabbit*, this design reimagines the proportions for optimal 3D printing, featuring smoothed edges for child-friendly use and added wind-themed details.

This is the ninth sword in my mini retractable sword series, modeled in Fusion 360. It's designed for print-in-place assembly, requiring no post-processing, with a print time of approximately 2 hours. It's even printable on an A1 mini, and its size is perfect for both adults and children. I plan to expand this series further.

Parameter Notes: Hand-drawn supports (please don't modify them 😂), no brim, and other standard settings.

Remarks:

1.It's recommended to avoid printing multiple swords simultaneously to minimize the risk of printing failures;

2.While this model is relatively easy to print, cold weather may increase the risk of spaghetti: Clean the bed, increase bed temperature by 5℃, and use glue stick/adhesive;

3.If the first few layers adhere to the build plate, preventing completion, you can use a craft knife to carefully separate them;

4.If a section doesn't extend smoothly, it might be due to slight extrusion issues or layer shifting. Repeated extension should resolve this.

My usual pace would have extended this project into next year, but seeing so many looking forward to it, I aimed for completion before the Lunar New Year. I have finally finished! It's incredibly satisfying and exciting! I've personally gained a lot from the design and creation process, and I'm very happy. Design Tidbits (Optional):

• My design constraint for these mini retractable swords was a print time of around 2 hours, aiming for that satisfying quick print after a long day. Therefore, the swords are relatively small, more like "small knives," making them suitable for both adults and children, and reducing the stress of potential printing failures or damage.
• All seven swords were completely redesigned from scratch, not using AI or tracing images. Only the overall shape is referenced, so they are not one-to-one recreations, but adapted as small, retractable swords, requiring significant adjustments for overall harmony. Sharp edges from the originals were smoothed for child-safe play and easier printing.
• Simply recreating the originals would have been monotonous, so I added personal details, though the print size limited how much detail could be included. It was a balancing act.
• Researching the original animation was challenging; the sword appearances and color schemes changed frequently, causing some confusion.
• I surprisingly discovered a high-definition version of the "Rainbow Seven" series anime on Bilibili.
• Surprisingly, I found that Bilibili and Xiaohongshu both have official "Rainbow Seven" accounts, still actively updating.

• Giving a few test prints to a colleague's young daughter during a company dinner resulted in hours of playtime. Witnessing her joy is far more rewarding than any online points.
