Plant Incubator is a prototype developed under tight deadlines as a basic version of a project I will likely revisit in the future to make improvements. I was asked to create a simple and functional station for growing a small indoor potted plant, maintaining an essential yet pleasing design inspired by the concept of a "home."

The model is designed for quick and intuitive assembly, focusing on optimizing 3D printing with minimal support usage. The structure includes a hole at the base for inserting a full-spectrum 8mm LED strip from below, which can be slid up to the roof. A 9mm hole at the top allows the LED strip to exit, and it is then glued to the flat surface between the sloping walls. A protective lampshade, also glued underneath the roof, completes the lighting setup.

Main features:

  • Materials: Printed in Black and Transparent PLA.
  • Dimensions: Approximately 238 mm tall x 110 mm wide and deep.
  • Design: Clean and essential lines, perfect for indoor use.
  • Assembly: Quick and straightforward with minimal steps.
  • 3D Printing: Optimized for a 0.4 nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height, 15% infill, and tree supports for the model's holes.

Plant Incubator is a starting point for exploring more advanced solutions in the future. Even in this basic version, it offers a practical and aesthetically pleasing option for anyone looking to grow a small potted plant with the help of artificial lighting.
