Description

Credit to original author

Huge thanks to @emakralova for creating the original model upon which this one is based! It is not only simple, strong, and reliable, but it also prints fast and requires minimal filament.

What's changed from the original

This remix modifies @emakralova's model by adding more slots to hook onto to allow tighter tying, as well as a slot to tuck the leftover portion of the tie into. Additionally, this remix removes the extra empty space below the zip tie hook, as I did not find it useful for any purpose.

Apart from that, these are the roughly the same dimensions as the original: ~150mm in total length.

Materials

I recommend printing with a flexible material such as TPU. I personally used Duramic 95A TPU. The included 3mf file for Bambu Studio includes the settings I used.

What I use these for

So far I haven't found a use for these apart from cable management. They definitely aren't as strong or reliable as zip ties you can buy at the store, but I have found them handy enough to print a few dozen for the many cables I have all over the place. I've even printed these for my family members!

These are useful, cheap, and most importantly, easy to undo despite maintaining a firm grip on whatever they are tied to.

Adjusting the model to fit your needs

The included Autodesk Fusion file can be easily modified to fit your cable/zip tie needs.
