Vintage Folding Camera

A replica of a vintage camera from the early 1900s which has been separated into several pieces for easier printing of different colors.  

Instructions

The body is all black with two silver fasteners for the glass plate which are printed separately and need to be glued on, as per the photo.  There are two silver hinges on the sides which are printed separately need to be placed after the bellows have been inserted.  The bellows may be printable without supports but recommend leaving them for accuracy.  There is a convex shape along the middle part of the bottom edge of the front of the bellows, but if you have it in any other orientation it will become immediately clear when you assemble it.  The front panel and lens are AMS prints but can easily be printed in a single color and painted. The lens needs to be glued onto the middle of the front panel, which also needs to have the silver frame glued on the sides and into the inserts on the body of the camera below the bellows.  The handle may become disconnected when removing supports but is easy to glue in place.

Please use the photos for reference when assembling, and please pre-assemble the unit before gluing it together.

This is a printable object created from a scan of Mieczysław Karłowicz’s camera by the Virtual Museums of Małopolska from the collection of the Art Department at the Tatra Museum in Zakopane which includes two cameras belonging to Mieczysław Karłowicz – an outstanding composer, unsurpassed mountaineer, skier and photographer. The composer purchased the presented object in 1909 after the success of his symphonic poem Odwieczne pieśni (Eternal songs) at the Warsaw Philharmonic. The composer’s new photographic equipment is a so-called travel camera for 13x18 cm film. The camera weighed less than 2 kilograms, and the bellows with the front standard and the lens were supported on two rails and thus, when folded, the whole set did not take up a lot of space (23 x 21.5 x 7 cm).
