Description

I always felt like most train tracks out there waste too much filament without any benefit. So I designed my own.

This is a somewhat material saving pillar that tries to look interesting. It is part of my skeleton track collection.

Nozzle0.4 mm
Layer Height0.2 mm
MaterialPLA/PLA Matte
Wall Loops2
Supportsno
PlateTextured PEI

The old version (v1) had an issue where the feet would sometimes break off easily. This was fixed in version "v2", which also uses less filament, because you do not need the added infill in the brittle areas anymore. I have left the old version online if you REALLY want it or want to create a remix of it.

Towards the top is a larger bridged area, which should not be a problem for modern printers. If you do run into any problems, feel free to give me feedback.

Very nice construction. Solid enough for the kids not to destroy immediately. The 60mm one connects perfectly to the ikea tracks. The connection is a bit loose, which to me is great, so you can cheat a little when connecting up a track.

Thank you! Let me know if anything breaks so I can improve it. The connection looks really loose in your pictures. Maybe I will add a variant with bigger heads on the pins. Cheers!

For me its fine that its this loose. In the picture the connection is under stress. My son likes to make tracks that aren't supposed to fit and force them to fit... Making the head bigger might cause it to break.

Amazing work. I've been printing a ton of them. They are solid, efficient with no waste. The kids wants more of them to elevate their whole track now. Thanks again

The kids wanted a double height one, so for now I've put 3 together like this which is solid enough, but it would be very fun if a double height one existed 😉.

Thank you for the feedback. I am currently considering how to construct more stable feet and will update the model shortly. I apologize that it broke. Edit: Did you use one of the profiles (with reinforced infill in the feet), or an STL file

why are all 3 sizes so close in size? which one is standard for the original brio sloped track?

The standard Brio size is 60mm. It is a bit too small for some of their own trains, which is why I added the 66mm tall version. This version is still compatible with the original brio tracks, while also allowing larger trains to pass underneath. The 63mm version was a user request for their IKEA system. If in doubt, I recommend the 66mm version.
