Description

Boost Me (for free)

If you like my work and would like to support me, please consider leaving a boost for the model! It greatly helps me out ♥

I HAVE RELEASED A NEW VERSION THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE MODIFYING YOUR AMS! IF YOU WANT TO CHECK IT OUT, YOU CAN FIND IT HERE:

https://makerworld.com/models/1726256

Finally, a cost effective fully sealed AMS filament dryer! This utilizes the guts of a Creality Space Pi Plus. This was inspired by this model here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/777405?from=search#profileId-714140

Update 04/23/2025:

-Fixed issues with the switch hole being too large
-Fixed an issue with the shorter ribbon cables for the screen after the recent PCB mounting change
-Fixed an issue with the screen mount not completely covering the board
-Fixed the trim pieces to adhere to the bed better and secure to the body better
-Adjusted the hole depth for the rubber feet

And a MASSIVE THANK YOU to @user_332283891 for pointing out these needed changes!

Update 02/01/2025:

Re-oriented the PCB to allow for better airflow from the vent below it. Also increased the outside vent hole (where the display ribbon cable feeds through) to allow for slightly better air exchange :)

Update 01/31/2025:

Added a new print profile that includes a new and improved trim system! This version is a solid piece the full height of the front wall rather than the previous small trim piece. THANK YOU TO @PrintalayIndust for the idea!! Also fixed the alignment of the slots for the rubber feet on the AMS :)

Update 01/12/2025:

Added an additional plate titled “AMS Riser V2 Adapter”. I'm sure this is very self explanatory as to what it is, but I'll tell you anyway. It is an option adapter to allow this heater mod to fit onto the AMS Riser V2 :)

Update 12/24/2024:

Added modifiers to the “Main Base” parts to add 100% infill around the screw holes for slightly better threading. No issues were reported here so feel free to delete the modifiers if you don't care, but this was just a preventative addition :)

Update 12/20/2024:

Added “Trim” pieces to close the gap between the AMS and Heater bases. Fixed the Riser Adapters. Uploaded the wrong version on accident… 😓

Update 12/18/2024:

Added a “Riser Adapter” to fit many different glass risers out there!

After printing and testing the other version, I found it to be quite insufficient and it took away part of what makes the AMS so appealing - the complete air-tight seal. So I went to work redesigning this. Initially, I was planning on just making this a simple remix with a bottom lid and TPU gasket, but found many flaws there. So I rebuilt every piece to near the exact same specs as the original design (so users who printed the original version can utilize this too!) to make sure this would be as near-perfect as possible. If you have any issues or find anything that should be tweaked, please feel free to reach out :) I am always trying to make sure my designs are the best they can possibly be!

A couple of notes:

  • This mod requires drilling holes into your AMS unit. I am NOT responsible for any damage that may occur, and please keep in mind this will void your warranty!
  • You can find a full write up / assembly guide below! To see how to disassemble the Space Pi and where to drill the holes, watch the original creators video here: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGdNbEkQw/
  • PETG is in the profile for a wider audience, but I recommend ABS/ASA at minimum. I did test thoroughly with PETG though and it holds up fine. Just be careful not to heat for too long or set too high (keep around 55-60° at max).
  • Please note that silica/desiccant is ALWAYS recommended to use in tandem with any heater/dryer system. This is designed to properly recirculate air and draw in new air, but no dryer is 100% effective without silica/desiccant. There are many silica/desiccant holders available on Makerworld that fit perfectly in the AMS! The ones I use are these:

    https://makerworld.com/models/657445

  • For users who printed the original version and don't want to reprint everything, you can just print the bottom lid and the TPU gaskets. You will just need to drill out 2mm pilot holes into the base for the lid screws.
  • If you don't have TPU, you can use heat tape or silicone instead, though I cannot guarantee the finished product will work as good.
  • Please keep in mind that the temperature readout on the Space Pi display may not be accurate due to the nature of how the sensor is mounted. I recommend using a small hygrometer inside the AMS to read more accurately.
  • I recommend gluing the gaskets onto the parts they are mounted to (see the assembly instructions to see how/where to mount them)
  • This was designed to where you can use the original bolt and nut system to clamp everything together OR you can use JUST the clip system I designed to hold everything together. If you want to be extra secure, you can use both :)
  • FINAL NOTE: I recommend taking the rubber feet off the bottom of the AMS and gluing them to the bottom lid to give it some grip!

Thank you all so much! I can't wait to hear your feedback :)
