FlashForge/CookieCAD Filament Clip - AMS Friendly
Print Profile(3)

Description
Similar to other filament clips I've made, I was unable to find a Flashforge spool filament clips that are AMS and EIBOS Polyphemus rotary function compatible. So I decided to design my own from the ground up.
Enjoy, and share your results. If you encounter issues please let me know, and I will do what I can to help.
Update: No changes in design, tested and fits perfectly on CookieCAD Spools as well.
Features:
- Removable: Some clips have so much friction you cannot remove them without breaking the prongs, these are removable
- Ultra lightweight: at 1.25g per clip
- Perfectly sized: to fit 1.75mm filament without squishing it
- Tested: Tested on 5+ flashforge plastic spools (PLA, PETG, and PETG-HF)
- 2 fitment profiles: Tightfit is a tigher fit for the filament, loosefit is a looser fit.
- Prints without Brim: if you run into print failures add a brim, but filament clips have much less cleanup without brims.
Print and Assembly Notes:
- Important PETG-HF Notice: I observed PETG-HF has slightly more shrinkage then standard PETG, scale all parts on X and Y axis by 100.5%-100.8% for ideal prong fitment. Alternatively you can use the filament setting for shrinkage which does the same thing.
- Suggest Printing test print to validate the filament tightness sizing before a larger batch.
- You only need 1-2 clips per spool.
- For AMS suggest only placing clips on the right side of the spool, one top and one bottom.
- For AMS Lite suggest only placing 2 clips on outside of the spool (when loaded to AMS). one top and one bottom.
- The pressfit is snug, so you may need to gently apply some extra force with needle nose pliers to insert the pegs into the cardboard spools.
Print Profile Notes:
Nozzle: Suggest 0.4mm nozzle for precision fit
Wall Loops: 3 wall loops on 0.4mm nozzle, 0.6mm nozzle not recommended due to decreased layer adhesion.
Layer Height: Suggest 0.16 or 0.20mm to maximize strength (0.16mm default)
Infill: No infill used.
Brim: default no brim, if you get failures switch to 2.5mm brim
Material: PETG or PLA
Color: Any
Print Orientation: Print with filament clip area face down as seen in 3mf file
Supports: None
3d Printers: Should be printable on any printer.
Filament amount required: ~1.25g per clip
