Description

Here's the Horseshoe Convertible Phone Stand, the ugliest phone stand you'll ever love.

The purpose of the Horseshoe Convertible Phone Stand is to provide a way to charge a phone through its case using a cylindrical magnet even if the magnet can't support the weight of the phone.

Remixed by editing .stl files and adding new functionality. This is a new design with a few pieces in common with the source item.

If you try to play horseshoes with it, you'll have to overcome the severe challenge of a small open end.

Tip: Other phone stands are compatible with the Horseshoe cradle. I'm not saying which, but if your stand is compatible, then you will have repurposed the horseshoe, and you may no longer need to print the remaining pieces.

The MagSafe charging disk holder is designed to fit larger but generally less expensive 3rd party charging adapters with a diameter of 58mm. To use it with a smaller one (such as Apple's), substitute the other mag holder (56 mm mag holder).

Don’t over tighten the bolt, or you’ll be printing it again (and frustratedly manipulating the broken shaft to extract it from the hinge assembly). The shelf doesn’t need to be extremely immobile for the stand to work well. Only the last hole is threaded (leftmost, if viewing from the front).

I've included a print file for a stronger profile of the bolt, PAHT-CF, if you need it.

There is also a shorter version of the horsheshoe, for phones that aren't compatible with magnetic charging disks. If you want to use the Horseshoe Convertible Phone Stand without a magnet, you may prefer the shorter horseshoe.

I've also added a low-rise base that lets you look down at the phone rather than closer to eye level.

I've added a mag disk holder for mags that are 56 mm in diameter (Apple's) so that if you have one of those mag adapters, you can use the Horseshoe Convertible Phone Stand for it, too. It is made to also be compatible with the new longer, thinner horseshoe, in case you have a phone case that lets you charge from the mag, but the weight of case and phone can't be supported by the mag alone.

I've recently added the .stl for a shorter horseshoe that may be needed to hold a phone in the landscape position if the magnet isn't strong enough to do so.
