Description

Desiccant Tower-700g Capacity-for Filament Storage

I've created this desiccant tower specifically for the stacking cases I use for filament storage (see photos) although it could be used with other storage bins. Here's a link to the bins sold at Sam's Club (and maybe Walmart): https://www.samsclub.com/p/member-s-mark-4pk-shoe-box/P990337548?xid=plp_product_5

These Sam's Club bins are nice in that they are stackable, have hinged front door with magnets, and hold 5 spools. They cost $30 for 4 of them.

This “tower” holds a whopping 700g of desiccant beads.

You'll see in the photo a storage bin with this tower in place at 25% humidity as compared to another bin next to it with smaller desiccant boxes with a humidity level of 50%. I dry my filament in a Sunlu dryer and then these storage bins with the tower hold them at low humidity for a good long time.

I set this model up for PETG translucent. I split the model colors printing the base & top in a separate color. To give the option to save on the translucent clear in case your short on it. The top & base can be printed as any other color of PETG. The colors are not “painted”, to modify the colors you'd modify the objects color setting. The easier method would be to modify the second filament setting to your choice of PETG filament; it's the one I assigned as PETG grey.

I've also included in the model a funnel specific for the tower and the filament spool bases that fit to the storage bins linked above. These parts are set up to print in PLA. I use any junk PLA I have for these. The 3rd filament color is assigned to these parts; I set it as black.
