Those who follow me on Xiaohongshu and Douyin know that I have revised this many times, but there are still some shortcomings. This may not be the final version, but it is basically complete. The palm needs to exert a lot of force, which can be painful to the hands. So, it is best to wear gloves when playing. It is printed with Taku black matte and painted with acrylic paint later.

such a great simple model. I thought it needed a gauntlet so I whipped one up out of EVA foam. I also added a few extra things, like 3 springs to the bottom of the plate between the gauntlet and the mantis blade plate- 2 in the front and 1 in the back. these were small "pen style" springs you can find in most pens. this is to add stability when the blade is actuated forwards and backwards. it adds cushioning so you dont feel the blade slap into your wrist as much. additionally I attached a spare 3d printed chain I had lying around and attached a rubber band to the 5th link and ran some armature wire beneath the print up behind the other end of the chain. this allows for slightly better control of the actuation of the blade and because of the rubber band attached the tension snaps the blade back into place which allows for minimal use of your wrist to get it done. I also attached an led light and a faux fallout style battery. additionally I also personally designed a gauntlet display.

also I should mention i printed this on my a1 mini. simply cut the pcs that are too big for the build plate and add dovetails. make sure the tolerance on the dovetails are good toothed simply add a bit of super glue and attach with the dovetails tails. it won't come apart and its a sturdy joint.

I just started printing this Christmas, but this is gonna be my next print for tomorrow. Also, I’m loving all the praying mantis things and from the reviews I can tell I’m gonna like this.

amazing, worked flawlessly. Only problem is that the pins snapped, but that's my fault.

i find that laying the pins on their side in the slicer makes it harder to snap because the layer lines are going the way that makes it so the tension cant snap it

overall cool design needs some refinement and lack of build instruction, but not difficult to look at the picture and figure it out, thanks.

Me and a few of my friends play airsoft and we like having a knives only. Is there a dull version of the blade that would hurt but not break skin?

Agreed, I might be able to do it but I have a feeling if i had placed them into different places with the slicer I still would not be able to get each dimension to line up.
