Description

I’ve been wanting one of these extremely rare German made mid-century mantle clocks but they are really difficult to find and when you do find them they go for $1,000 - $2,500. So I decided to try and 3D print a replica. While not perfect, I like how it turned out.

Printed on p1p. For fake wood appearance I did some sanding, then automotive body filler/primer. Then light brown colored spray paint with dark wood stain brushed on for the final coat.

For the face of the clock, use ironing to make for a smoother finish. For the clock body, use adaptive layer hight for best results.

I used a cheap clock movement from walmart as the clock internals. It's a 1/4 in (.63 cm) shaft and a 2.5 in (5.71 cm) housing. The clock movement come with second, min, an hour hands but I discarded those and designed min and hour hands that press fit onto the shaft of the clock movement.

The small dots are decoration that press fit into the face of the clock. Same for the narrow strips. You'll need to trim these down to size as you press fit them into the clock. If they are too tight you can play with scaling them down slightly.

The original clock had 3 ports used for setting the time and winding the movement. I've included them here has decoration only. Easiest to press fit these in from the back of the face.

For the legs, you can place them by eye or do some measuring to get them in the same location on the bottom of the clock body. I may add registration holes at some point.
