Description

This is a remix of the “Mid-Century Welby Mantle Clock” by mitchrichie which is an excellent model. Thank you again for sharing this model with us!

The one thing that I didn't like was the brass pieces were meant to be cut and trimmed in, so I made a new model of the brass accents using a negative impression of the face plate. It has no tolerance so I used pistol grip style quick clamps (that have rubber pads for non surface marring) to press them in - which worked great!. I used brass metal PLA from CCTREE.

Used shelf paper to wrap it for wood look. Originally I planned to try and use actually walnut veneer but its expensive and hard to find apparently where I am. I may look into that again in the future. Example of shelf paper warp I used:

They cannot be hand pressed in, did you try using the clamps mentioned above?

If it's helpful at all, this is the type of clamp that I was referring to. If you don't have one on hand (or something similar) then that could be problematic. I'm not familiar with paint clamps. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

@BadAppleseed How did you hold the front and back plates in place?

Friction fit, they are tight enough they will just pop in there fine. It's good incase you ever need to change the battery etc on the clock mechanism they are easy to get out and back in.

Great work. Could you provide any more detail on how you wrapped the clock. Did you make a template?

No template. Just wrapped with vinyl and trim excessive from edges with hobby knife.
