3D Printed 'On Air' Light Box – Ideal for Streamers, Podcasters, and Studios

Add a professional touch to your workspace with this sleek, 3D-printed "On Air" light box. Perfect for content creators, podcasters, and broadcasting enthusiasts, this illuminated sign not only serves as a visual cue for recording but also adds a stylish flair to any room.

This was a fun little after-noon design. Modeled with a retro design in mind, this ‘On-Air’ desktop LED sign is great for anyone's setup! 5V LED COB strips can be used for the lights. I wired the light strips to a USB cable so it can be powered from my laptop, perfect for a mobile podcast setup!

12/16/2024: uploaded a thinner faceplate in the raw files to allow for more light to pass through.

PRINTING

The main body is split into parts to allow for optimal printing, resulting in a better quality print.
The ‘On Air’ plate is printed with 2 colors using the AMS. I recommend 10 Bottom or Top walls and 0% infill for the best light diffusion. Supports are required for the edges that glue to the inside of the main frame.
Example in pictures were printed using Charcoal Black Matte PLA, Silver Silk PLA, and Red PLA+.

Printed real nice and looks great with the thin plate! Gave it to my friend Wolfman Dan who plays 50s, 60s and 70s records live on TikTok!

Printer: Bambu Lab A1 Filament: Creality CR Matte Black, Creality CR Matte White I had very clean results. I covered inside with self adhesive aluminium sheet. I added 5V LED strips controlled by an Arduino Leonardo. When I start recording with Logic Pro the lights turn red, otherwise they are green. I have not printed the decorative strips yet, I like the current design so I am not sure if I add them.

Exceptionally clean print results, I printed the decorative strips in gold. The rest is Bambu Lab Basic PLA, black, red, and white. The interior uses standard 5V LED strips in neutral white, which I first glued to a rigid foam board, soldered, and then glued the rigid foam board to the back of the housing.

Printed in mostly Bambu basic PLA but used Sunlu PLA+ Silk silver for the decorative strips. It came out great and took just a few minutes to super glue everything together. It’s my favorite kind of design in that it’s functional while also being beautifully designed and attractive. I got it for my wife’s home office so she won’t be disturbed during meetings and she loved it and thought it was store bought.

Awesome, sturdy , I like that you use a heavier gauge for this print it add weight and stability, I also like the access from the top , easy to install inside whatever you like and to access it . Right now I only put three puck lights inside and use the remote to turn the “on air sign ON “ I received some LED , cable switch and resistors today so I will try a different setup. It is my favourite “On Air print” I am planning to gift this print to a couple of my Ham friend for their Ham Shack …they will love this !😃 Really a fantastic retro design . Thank you . … sorry , I do not know where to push to give you your five star . I am pretty new at this .
