Description
Insert to convert the Utopia Cereal Containers into a filament dry box.
(with indentations, tested with both the 4-pack and the 3-pack. v1.x did not support the 3-pack but v2.x now does)
Supported Containers
- Utopia Cereal Containers (designed for this container)
- Wildone Cereal Storage Containers (tested by @edelbug)
- PRAKI Cereal Containers (tested by @MattasaurusJax)
- if you find any other containers that work, leave a comment below
Note: if you find the base doesn't perfectly fit your box, some folks have had luck with thermoforming – using a heat gun / heat source to warm the frame and bending it slightly to shape. It shouldn't take much since it's so thin.

Desiccant box prints separately and snaps into place (so it can be swapped out or dried separately)
All other parts print separately so they can be swapped.
There is an axle holder that doesn't require bearings or a version that can use bearings (honestly, it's perfectly fine without the bearings, but if you'd like to use them you need 608 bearings or a 3D printed version)
Parts to Print
- 1x Base
- 1x Desiccant Box Base
- 1x Desiccant Box Lid
- 1x Hygrometer Holder
- 2x Axle
- 2x Roller Base Plate
- 2x Axle Holder OR Bearing Holder
- 4x Roller
Updates
- v2.1
- updated the design of the desiccant box to decrease total print time by 15m
- added roller reversed for opposite camber, in case your filament roll is sliding off using the original ones
- v2.0
- full redesign because i found the base plate wasn't a perfect fit and modifying the base plate caused too many issues to re-use the original one
- added non-bearing axle holder (to be honest, this one seems to spin more freely, my bearings are really smooth but they have a lot of friction
- moved the desiccant box to the back so that the rollers can be closer together which allows the base plates to be identical and provide more clearance for the rollers to be longer
- added a taper to the rollers to encourage the spool to stay in the center
- added an internal chamfer to the roller so the axle stays in better
- now fits both the 4-pack model and the 3-pack model
- v1.3
- updated the roller caps to add a taper to hold the spool in the center
- added a new model - Axle Holder - which can be used without bearings
- v1.2
- updated rollers so that the bearings are located in the middle, now allowing for spools up to 70mm wide (hatchbox, etc)
- v1.1
- updated the desiccant box design so that there is more support on the edges and so that it slides in more naturally to be more user friendly
- v1.0
- original release
