Description
Counter Bin - Improved Design for Effortless Kitchen Clean-Up
Model Overview:
Introducing the Counter Bin, a refined and enhanced version of existing kitchen counter cleaning solutions. This model combines the best features of two popular designs, addressing some common print issues and usability flaws. The Counter Bin is perfect for keeping your kitchen counter clean and tidy, allowing you to easily collect food scraps and debris while you work.
Why This Redesign?
After experimenting with the Counter Cleaner and the Kitchen Counter Cleaner Bin, I identified a few key areas for improvement:
- Counter Cleaner: While functional, the first model required overly complex supports that made printing difficult. Additionally, the handle wasn't as sturdy as I needed for regular use.
- Kitchen Counter Cleaner Bin: This is a fantastic model with a solid design, but it lacked the 'fins' for easy clipping onto the counter, which limited its utility for my needs.
By combining the strengths of these two models and addressing their shortcomings, I created a single, optimized product that better fits the demands of a busy kitchen. The Counter Bin now offers the ease of clipping onto counters and a robust handle, while being much simpler to print.
What’s New in This Update:
- Wider angle between the bin and the counter top to improve usability and fit (based on feedback/complaints).
- Sharper/cleaner transition from counter to bin so dirt and scraps are less likely to get stuck between the counter and the bin.
- Removed the “big” version. If you have larger hands, my recommendation is to print the model at 110%.
- Recommended version: Heavy. It uses more material, but it’s sturdier and provides a better fit between the counter and the bin.
Print Instructions:
- Material: PLA is recommended for this print.
- Orientation: Place model on the bottom - upright (opening at top).
- Supports: Use supports on the build plate only.
- Infill: 15% infill is sufficient for most purposes, but for a more solid and durable bin, you can opt for up to 20% infill.
- Perimeters: 2 perimeters are standard, but if you need extra strength, consider using 3-4 perimeters.
- Layer Height: Choose a layer height that balances print time with detail based on your printer's capabilities.
This model is designed to print easily while maintaining a high-quality finish. With the suggested settings, you’ll get a functional and aesthetically pleasing result that should hold up well under regular kitchen use. Happy printing!
