Description

I recently got this Nee Doh fidget toy and my first thought was, my cat will destroy this if she finds it. I also wanted a way to protect it from dust and debris in my office, so I threw together this quick and easy to print case for it. To assemble, snap the 2 halves together and line up the hinge, then take any 1.75mm filament and carefully guide it through the hole in the hinge. Be careful when putting the filament through the hinge, if its brittle and your break it off inside you may have a fairly hard time getting it out unless you have something smaller than 2mm wide and long enough to poke through the other side. I printed a few versions of this while I was designing it and ended up using a couple different filaments to test how they come out. With some of my PLA it was easy to get the hinge assembled, some required me to drill out the hinge a bit with a 2mm drill bit. If it feels like you wont be able to get the filament through don't force it, just drill it out and it will be very easy to insert but will still stay in place. Once you have the filament through, I recommend using flush cutters to cut the filament to size so its nice and smooth on the sides.

I did have to fight a little to get the filament in for the hinge but once I did it works great. Thanks!

Yeah it was pretty hit or miss for me, some filaments would just slide right in and some i had to drill it out a bit to get an easy fit

Printed Medium size using same PETG filament and all is great. But printed mini and the flip tops are larger that the box. Used H2D. Printed on same plate at same time using PETG. First dim issue ever. Looks like a 0.6% difference. Printing correction test now. Any one else with this issue?

Not sure where you're getting that calculation from, I looked up the nice berg and it looks like its 1 inch bigger in each dimension. If you're referring to the 3.25" one then I'll be happy to make a version for it

You could buy steel dowel pins, can probably find them on Amazon and almost definitely on mcmaster carr, but a piece of filament is what I designed the hinge to use. Please review the model description for assembly instructions

The outer dimensions are about 2.67 inches in each dimension, pretty close to being a cube (the height is 2mm shorter than the other dimensions)
