Description

I have designed the gearbox to be operated with a NEMA 17 motor on a ball screw.

Data sheet:

Number of gears1
Number of teeth z30
Gear ratio I30:1
Pitch angle α4.05°

As the lead angle is less than 5°, the gearbox is self-locking.

Self-locking it can only be driven via the worm, not via the worm wheel!!!

Printed from “normal” PLA, it can transmit a torque of around 3 Nm. More is certainly possible with a stronger plastic.

The following parts are required which cannot be printed:

Ball bearing6003 ZZ (17 x 35 x 10mm)2x
Ball bearing608 ZZ (8 x 22 x 7mm)2x
Cylinder head screwDIN 4762 (DIN 912) M6 x 126x
threaded insert (fusion nut)M36x

No support structure is required to print the gearbox.

Have fun printing my worm gear 😊
