Description

Project Description: 3D Printed Cover of “Batman Spawn Unplugged #1” (2023)

This 3D printing project is a faithful reproduction of the cover from the first issue of the comic series “Batman Spawn Unplugged”, published by DC Comics in 2023. As a fan of both Batman and Spawn, I was inspired to bring this iconic collaboration to life in a 3D format. The model was carefully crafted using the original comic cover, which I manipulated through the tool “HueForge” to transform it into a 3D printable design.

Design and Features

The model consists of a framed version of the comic book cover, ensuring that it remains structurally stable during printing and is less prone to warping. The frame not only provides support but also enhances the display aesthetics of the finished product, making it a perfect piece to showcase on your wall or shelf.

I’ve also added two preset printing options, so that users can choose the method that best suits their setup:

  1. For AMS (Automatic Material System) users: This preset is designed for those with AMS-enabled printers. It allows you to print the model in full color by automatically managing the filament changes.
  2. For non-AMS users: For those without an AMS setup, I have included a preset that includes pauses at key points during the print, allowing you to manually change the filament for a multi-color result.

Printing Instructions

Here are the detailed instructions for manually changing the filament colors during the print for non-AMS users:

  • Start the print using Black filament for the base color.
  • At layer #7 (0.64mm), pause the print and change the filament to Blue Gray.
  • At layer #14 (1.2mm), pause the print again and switch the filament to Jade White.

Following these steps will ensure a clean and accurate color transition, closely replicating the comic book cover’s design. The color selections are chosen to match the original artwork as closely as possible while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic for the 3D print.

Materials and Filament Settings

I recommend using PLA filament for this print, as it offers excellent print quality and ease of use. However, feel free to experiment with other filament types depending on your preferences.

Suggested Filament Colors:

  • Bambulab Black (for the base layers and most of the frame)
  • Bambulab Blue Gray (for the background elements)
  • Bambulab Jade White (for the fine details and highlights)

Final Touches and Display

Once the model is printed, you can easily mount it on a wall or display it on a stand. The framed design not only prevents warping but also gives it a professional and polished look. I suggest using a high-gloss filament if you’re looking to achieve a sleek, comic-style finish. If you’d like a more muted, classic look, matte filament also works great.

Acknowledgments and Gratitude

Thank you for taking the time to download and print this model! It was an exciting project that combines my love for 3D printing and comics, and I hope you enjoy printing and displaying it as much as I enjoyed creating it. I encourage everyone to experiment with different color combinations and filament types to make the model truly their own.

I’ve worked hard to ensure this print is as accessible as possible for both beginner and advanced users. If you do print this model, I’d love to see your results, so feel free to share pictures of your finished work!

Support the Project

If you enjoyed this model, I kindly ask you to give it a “Boost” on the platform. Your support helps motivate me to create more fun and detailed 3D models like this one. Don’t forget to leave a comment if you have any suggestions, feedback, or requests for future projects!

Happy printing!
